Okay, I thought I'd create this thread to chat about car stereo systems, covering Casette, CD, Car DVD, and MP3!
I'm starting off by saying that I was considering getting an in-car DVD system, but decided against it, because I can't actually see when I'd be watching videos in the car!
So, I just bought a Sony CDX-RR3300 CD MP3 player! Saved £30 off the list price as well!
It's got a removable front panel, a cool little cover slidy thingy, and it looks great! 50W X 4 output! It's also got an instruction book in many different languages!
Well done Sony!

I would have thought so - However, if you've got bored paseengers (Like kids), which I never have, then I suppose it's a way of keepinn them entertained - For instance, if I went to Spain on holiday, I'd love to drive there, well, it's almost 3 days of driving, so this is when your passengers would probably like to watch a couple of movies, especially if you're driving at night with no scenery.
My GMC has a compartment built in, originally for a VCR, TV and CD changer, but that was stripped out before I got it. I use these compartments for handy storage now.

I thought of getting a coffee machine, but then again, unlike the USA, there's so many service stations on the motorways, with restaurants, and fast-food, and shops and stuff, that you don't really need it over here! Same goes for Europe as well!

Thousands and thousands! They're like a little village - They even have hotels so you can sleep over if you're on a long journey. Typically on motorways (Freeways), and A-Roads (Like main roads), they're on average about 20 miles apart.

Here in quebec city there are a lot of tunned cars and car tunners ( and I am one of those), and a lot of people are installing DVD players in their car just to increase the value of their car. I'm planning on buying one to plug in my ps2.
But, b4 installing a dvd player,if you are planning to listen to music dvds, you should install a decent stereo and speakers, such as tweeters, 6x9, and one or two subwoofer(s) with an amplifier.

The amplifiers I was looking cost almost as much as the stereo, so I opted for the above stereo, which has 4 X 50W output. Okay, it's not hugely powerful, but it's better than the 4X35W I had in there, and it gets up to about 100db, which is loud enough!

a GOOD amplifier WILL cost more than most of the stereo on the market.... thats how it works

Well I would just buy a big a** winebago and well that has everything I need, TV computer, coffee maker, bathroom. I would only have to stop for gas!

I noticed on the stereos that were over 60W per channel, they had to be specially wired up with a new power feed from the bettery. There was a Sony player I was going to get, but I wouldn't have had it in time for my Easter trip, due to the 3 weeks wait for someone to wire it up (and guarantee it).
Do we really need something over 50W per channel? Isn't that loud enough for normal listening?
