I need help!!!!

Post by Jperson »

OK at the mome have three things on the run, i know it's t much but ohwell, I've been thinking ahead into the future! :) I was wondering what I should have as my next longish film and I jjust can't think, 'cause has to be something that works with twelve-year olds and it can't have millions of people in it...

So I was wondering if anyone had a great idea for me....

Lol dont know if ive 'decoded' your message rite? im assuming ur askin wat a good script for a 12 year old audience would be? lol :P

Im new to filmaking myself, so if im wrong here, dont strike me down lol. I, would assume that being a film for a 12 year old audience I would focus on a mild theme, but a massive imaginative fun plot. I dont think little kids are going to enjoy a film because it has deep meanings or master camera work, as they arent likely to appreciate the effort put in. I think anything would suit, easy going, fun and lots of imaginative and creative/crazy scenes. The last film I did was for that type of audience was about a dog that got depressed and took a holiday (was hard cos my dog isnt much of an actor) But yeah, the kids seemed to like it, as it was funny and happy. . But to the older audience im sure most would think it was the biggest load of cr** LOL. Well thats my opnion anyways.

Hope that helps

:D

Awe come on now mickcaar, play nice!

Jperson, ive still to see you shoot any footage that is in focus. So far i see lots of random blurry shots and title graphics interspliced. Thats it, for every film u've shown so far.

So before investine time to help, just for gods sake show us some footage in focus, with some steady tilts, pans, and some nice framed shots first, just so we know u can actually do the very very most basic camera work!

Hmmm...yeah Lawria I agree but I don't havew the best of cameras and focusing is really quite shoddy, still I'm not trying to dodge the blame there, I know a lot of my stuff is utter sh*t and some of it so damn out of focus, so I'll work on that in Spent Brass.

Jperson, if you looking for someone to write you a decent script for free they are going to want to see a decent end product eg the film.

If its badly shot/acted etc the writer who has spent his time writing you a script is going to a bit annoyed to say the least.

Get better at using your camera first, film anything just make sure its in focus/well filmed, don't worry about it having a story.

By what lawriejaffa is saying and you are admiting it sounds you need some practice, nothing wrong with that at all better to admit how good you are

if you can find some material with characters of roughly the right age that would be better, judging by what you are saying I recommend a film called "stand by me", it mainly focuses on a teenage cast.

yeah, I've been thinking of a teenage cast sort of thing, problem though I've had a hard time looking for girls and you can't have teenage without romance, now can you? What I'm looking for here is really maybe just a simple idea to spark me off for a script. I don't want a script written for me, I'll do that, I really jjust want ideas and comments, but I do agree with oyu on the camera work, I'll practice and think more about it + Spent Brass will be filmed on a tripod.

What exactly are you asking me lawriejaffa this makes no sense at all.....

Like you i'm giving some advice to someone who is asking for it.

I simply put down what a potential writer would want to know if they were going to help someone on here.

From my point of view here.

Dude I really don't think that using 12 year olds are the best idea. For one they can't act and if they can they would be in hollywood. You don't have that type of connection. Judging by the amount of hits (12) on your site you don't get alot of recognition. But I also see the reason for that. You have no videos. If you do they are not on the web. Just a bunch of really poorly done trailers. Before asking someone to make you a script get a bit better at what it is you do. I suggest just making something real. Something regular kids do. Call it A Day in the Life of kids. I dunno. Do something artistic like showing what kids do wherever you live. I suggest just keep working at filming in general before anything. Cause the way I see it your not getting anywhere with this type of production. Sorry man.

I have to agree with this 100%; if I wrote a script and put alot of my own time and effort into it, just to see it ruined by someone nt as commited I would freak big time! (and spread the word etc).
