Advice and suggestions for script

Hello all!

I need advices and suggestion for writing a script. The script will be filmed to produce a four-minute video essay on social issues (gangsterism, smoking, etc..)

How about making it like a documentary? (If you do you might need to look into fomatting differently from Hollywood style script format.) You really need to pick an issue before much advice can be given. I've just recently made a documentary on Chip and PIN and it's introduction into the UK. Planning is the key, just plan plan plan! You need to make sure you know far more about your issue than you'll need to know for filming/ writing. You don't want to have to be doing the research into into your subject area as you are writing it, it'll take longer and the script may become disjointed.

this kind of thing is great wth fake interviews, or real interviews if you want,

do it on gangs and interview memebrs or something, should be fairly easy to script up

was thinking along the lines of doing it from the hoods perspective, a "day in the life" sort of thing? the camera follows the gansta lad around as he makes his rounds of his underage , pregnant prostitutes gathering money to by smokes, in the back ground have posters against the issues, have random 'speeches' from the ganstar (as he is bying smokes he can talk to the camera crew etc). about how har dlife is for him what with trips to the hospital, clinics, etc ending with his arrest for something, final interview from inside his cell. have afew ideas on this myslef now! lol drop me a line if you like?

I would suggest narrwoing to one topic as 4 minutes is fairly short amount of time to cover the depth of more than one subject. If you were to stick to gangsters take a look at the movies suggested previously here.
