Optical mice rock! I used one on a Sun Workstation at University, and that was, well, er, 10 years ago!!! Never had jumping, and never worried about stray belly-button fluff (Why is it always purple?) clogging up the mechanism! Yes indeed, optical mice are the way to go - You'll never have fluffy balls again!

Me and my girlfriend have both got Microsoft optical mice. Although she claims she never had problems with fluffy balls.

Optical mice are cool. And ours glow red in the dark. What more do you want :)

I've got a MS optical blue mouse, and it's not only more accurate then a ball mouse, but the battery life is incredible, and the transmission on the wireless will go up to 6 ft away

I got one, You don't need to worry about not having a mousepad as long as you dont mind the bottom of you rmouse scraping along the desk. It's a good mouse

Well thats because you switched to optical, they are always better then a ball mouse. And I would never want to have just one button on my mouse.
