Google Video Help

Post by Matt »

I'm thinking of uploading some stuff to Google Video. I've had a look at what they want you to upload but I've got a few questions.

They say they want 4:3 NTSC footage ... but what if your Premiere project is 16x9 PAL? What should I export from Premiere to upload to Google for the best results?

They also specify vague guidelines for bitrate etc but does this really matter?

Any tips would be appreciate, especially when it comes to exporting a suitable format from Premiere v1.5.

Just plain AVI will work and the bitrate doesn't really matter. Hope that helps.

The clip I am experimenting with is 4 minutes long. As a DV AVI it is over 700Mb :)

I am rendering an MPEG2 6mbs, progressive, PAL, PCM, 16x9 and that is coming out as 220Mb. I'll upload that and see. Google does seem to take forever to verify uploads

Too true. About 4-5 days on average.

I personally prefer Google Video over youtube because it takes longer to verify, this causes people to be impatient and not load all their dumb cr**.

The great thing about Google Video is you can download the uploader and can load a video up to just about any size, the drawback is you need a gmail account so Matt if you need a gmail account I can send you one of the 90 something I've got.

Also it says at this moment they're not accepting videos...I guess they're doing a clean-up or something.
