The Mac Switch

Post by Meade87 »

Hey how many people here have made the mac switch?
I just bought a mac computer.
Dual 800 Mhz PowerPC G4
2MB L3 cache per processor
1.5GB SDRAM
and 2 harddrives that provides a collective amount of
160GBs
It came with a 17inch Flat Panel LCD

This thing seems pretty kick a** and I will be loading Final Cut Studio on it. So how many others made the mac switch? & if you did how much more do you like it? cause I think it kicks the PC a**. lol

G5's are crazy expensive, I don't have the cash for that right now. Plus my bud just bought a G5 a basic one like the $2k one and they don't much in it, it's all about the processor and because of that my computer rans at the same speed as his. And no matter what it kicks the PC I had's a**.

"There are a LOT of great games on the Mac. Like, um, Warcraft 3. . . and that puzzle game with the Apple logo! That is a GREAT game. I mean, I beat it, but, it's still fun..."

I like Mac's even though I got a free cr** G3. Only thing I don't like is the screen, a lil hard to see, so I just edit on my PC.

I'm happy with PCs, I can do everything I could with a Mac, and it costs a fraction of the money! Plus there's more variety of software on PC!

Cammy, sorry, I have to argue again, can you run Final Cut Pro on your PC???

NO... Oh and how much did you spend on your PC? I spent AU$1,400 and I was ready to edit... And these days it's even cheaper!

But lets not start another PC v MAC war, neither PC nor MAC user ever want to switch unless they have to work proffessionally in the industry and are forced to switch to mac to use Final Cut Pro.

Quite simply, I don't NEED to use Final Cut Pro, and I spent a mere £250 on my PC and it does everything I need! Not everything you need, but everything I need!

You love spending money on things don't you! :P

macs are just designed way better, everything is faster, cleaner, easier to use, no blue screen of death (although we have a spinning beach ball of doom), and I think they are way more user friendly.

I don't want a Mac, I'm happy with my PC, and I can't understand why everyone keeps wanting to shove a mac down my throat!

If you're happy with your Macs, then great, but why do Mac users always feel they have to get all preachy over PC users?

Macs can go to hell.

Everyone loves them, but they ALWAYS lock up for me. Every. Single. Time.

I must be super-unlucky...

I just switched to a mac this summer and I'm NEVER going back to PC. Everything about it better than a PC (well, except some of the software is hard to find), put in situations like that I just use Virtual PC. I have both OSX 10.4, and Windows Xp Pro on my G4 laptop, and they both run great, although xp is to slow for my tastes.
But the mac simply works. It never crashes, no virius, no spyware, no defragmenting, no BS that I had to put up with in my PC days. And it is super-fast, I can run a dozen high-end programs at once, and it dosen't slow my computer down AT ALL. Using and installing programs in so easy, just drag-and-drop basically. Never going back to PC.
