You mean make them smaller? Well, just load them up in Bitmap and make them smaller by draging the bottom right side dot. But if their animated then just open up Adobe Animation Shop, start a new animation then select the size to be smaller.

No, resize using Photoshop, it maintains the quality much better.

If you have to use MSPaint to resize your avatar then....
1. Open or paste the image into paint
2. Using the Square Select tool (top right of the tool bar), select the area that you would want to use as your avatar.
3.While this area is selected, click the Image menu and select Stretch/Skew (or press ctrl+w)
4. In the Stretch Area, enter in a smaller value in each of the felds (ie, 50% - If you want the image to be half the size) NOTE - Make sure the value is the same in both boxes, otherwise your image will look dodgy
5. Click Ok. The area that you had selected in step 2 will now be resized. if it still isnt small enough go back into the stretch/skew options and resize it. (I dont recommend enlarging this way as it will pixelate the image).
6. When you happy with the size of the selected area, right click on it and click 'cut'
7. Open up a new Paint Document. Make sure the workspace (the white square) is smaller than your new image. (to resize that just move the lower right square of the workspace).
8. Click the 'Edit" menu on the main tool bar, then click "Paste"
Your Resized image should appear and take up all of the workspace. If a box pops up asking you if you want to enlarge the workspace click yes. You can now save this image to a bitmap. (if you want/need this as a jpg, I recommend saving as a bitmap in paint, and using another program to save that file as a jpg (as Paint does a cr** job as saving to jpg)).
hope this helps
