Programming Film Tools

I'd like to know if there are any other Programmers on board who are programming their own Movie Utilities and Tools sometimes. It's pretty hard to find good code etc. especially when you are using Programming Languages other than C++. But in the same time it gives you total control, so it's a real challenge.
