Sending files w/ IM?
I know it's been mentioned more than once that people can exchange video clips through instant messagers. Is this true? Why wouldn't it be faster just to e-mail them?

It's true. E-mail accounts often have limits on the size of a file you can send or receive.

An instant messenger serves as an instant connection to the person of whom you are speaking with's computer. You can send as big of a file as you want as long as it you are connected with the reciever. Most email only let's you have up to 10Mb per email.
