Firefox!

Post by El Brenty »

I've been using it for a few days now and I think it's great!

Easy to install, and works fine.

It's virtually the same as Internet Explorer, but has some nicely intergrated bells and whistles that run seamlessly and give you an overall better browsing experience.

I recommend everyone to switch, it's great!

I want to, but my folks are like "Well, I gotta research it a little first" SO I give them a magazine that has a huge article on the ways that Mozila is supperior to IE, and she says "Hmmm, I'll read this later" and then she never does

I didn't care for it all that much, it was no different from IE, and the page scrolling was all chunky and wierd, so I stuck with IE. Never caused me any problems.

Although Firefox looks a lot like IE it is much more secure. IE is full of critical security holes for which there is no defence. You don't notice them until some hacker nukes your PC or uses it to stash his collection of illegal porn. Which you then get arrested for!

I didn't care for Mozilla much. It was slower and didn't display half the website I went to correctly for some reason. Especially my website it ripped apart! :-P

I've had no trouble with it at all, and your website works fine with it!

Hint: Good website design involves making your website multi-browser friendly!

Another reason Firefox beats IE, most viruses/worms are designed to work only through IE (because thats what most people use, it's the same with the legend of Linus being "Virus Proof") And untill there is a dramatic shift in what browsers people use, Virus makers will continue to design them for IE

Although its popularity makes it more of a target IE does make it easier for virus writers because Microsoft doesn't care less about security.

Also IE doesn't display PNG graphics properly. For example the 'Thunderbird' logo on the left hand side. In IE it displays with a horrible white background which should be transparent.

Some websites don't work with other browsers because they have been written to suit IE .. which doesn't comply with various web standards properly (HTML being the main one !)

I tried Firefox but I didn't see anything which made me decide to keep using it.

My ex used Firefox on her PC and it drove me absolutely insane. I just couldn't deal with it! It felt weird!

I also used to use Opera for a bit. That was just crazy

The danger of advertising Firefox to the masses is that it'll soon become the next target for hackers etc :( You're probably better off making your own web browsers :P

I've had Firefox for a couple of months now. I LOVE IT!! Anyways, I wouldn't suggest deleting IE, because some websites don't support Firefox yet, and I can't seem to get Epsilon's FTP site to work.

I have tried it, runs ok. Don't like how slow it is at some things. Didn't work with wellsfargo bank site, didn't work with Etrade Options site, didn't work with Cigna retirement site. As far as crashing, security, and bugs..hmmm not sure on that, IE never seems to have for me any of the above problems.
I would venture to say most of the people that seem to have trouble with IE, are not surfing "normal" sites. Normal sites don't have any problems. Now porn, warez, bitz, seem to give you the good'ol pop up. But that aside, if the page dislplay's who cares what browser runs it, honestly??

One prominent example of this is Fileplanet will not let you download anything on Firefox

I found it to be the opposite. Pics would slowly appear as if I has a dial-up connection circa 1997.
