AOL Users Getting Broadband
Here's something you may want to know:
I just got hooked up wioth broadband through a different service provider.
I can actually access my AOL using this broadband connection. It simply replaces the modem (select TCP/IP as the connection type), and works in the usual way.
The buddy list works with the Instant Messenger, I can still switch screen-names, and do everything I could do before with AOL, only 100 times faster.
One thing to remember though, if you want to keep AOL, while using someone else's connection, you're paying for both!
I think I'll scrap my AOL soon, once I've given out my new Email address - I will lose the virus-free email (attachments excluded), although I won't miss the dodgy spamming!

Get Pegasus Mail for you rPOP3/SMTP client. There are other alternatives in the world to MS and AOL LOL.. Eudora, Pegasus come to mind as mail clients but there are probably at least a half dozen others. Just ignore outlook and outlook express...Originally posted by CamClub
Yeah, but one thing for it - You didn't get all the viruses that MS outlook gets because it used it's own front-end mail software, although that sucked because you couldn't import address lists!
Man this new broadband connection is great!

Fool, you should have gone to Eclipse!
Freeserve have got bad contention rates on their lines! They also will cut you off without notice if you upload too much onto their web-space, or if you get too many people downloading files from that web-space!
ALthough you may have a 512K connection, you're sharing it with loads of other people, and at peak times you'll find it slowing down, and at worst, getting slower than analogue!
Be warned!
