Stunts & Physical Effects Forum Guidelines

Post by Matt »

This forum is for the discussion of stunts and effects that don't involve computer generated imagery. These are the 'old fashion' sort of effects started in the days when there were no computers, and if there were they were the size of a small house.

Stunts are a good way to keep in shape, Ive been practising for about 3 years now and its been a good time. Looks very good on camera aswell. I am considering going into professional trainig/work as a stuntman, but we'll see. I've done plenty of high risk Stunts for various projects and its a great way of bulking up your movie. I've dont car hits, fire, high falls, stair falls and basic fight scenes, its all good. Utility stunts are a good way of getting into it at a slower pace.

so, is anyone going to tell anyone else how to do stuff, or do we just sit around and talk about how cool non cg effects are? don't mean to be blunt but im looking for ideas for a sequel to a film i made, that is already written, but some of the technical stuff needs to be worked out.

<Kindly directs Darth to the forum, shown below the sticky signs>

If you can't find it there, then try making a thread about the individual stunt

Well its not as easy as 'tell people how to do' Stunts, each and every stuntman has his diffrent style and way of working things. aswel as the fact that the 'hands on' approach is really the best way to learn, like Recon said, it best to start a thread on a perticular gag, or if you need any advice, email me and I'll give you some tips. I havent really had much training, only a watching each move and breaking it down, aswell as some advice from stuntmen Kane Hodder and Mike Judge. but yeah if anyone needs any advice, its cool, I havent done loads, just like High falls, Cars hits, stair falls, fights and firework, and of course the average 'utility stunts'.

Make sure you know what your doing and if your not sure then ask someone on this forum for help or ideas. never do anything that you are unsure of. and never do anything that could actually kill you or several peopel you r wrking with. If anything try and keep safe, make sure 911 is a button awauy on the phone and that you are able to come up with a good reason for mentioning any said injuries.

Watch The Toxic Avenger... very good car crash scene. I don't know that well how to do it but when a cars coming at you you gotta jump, land on the hood and roll. Ask someone with much more crashing ability so you don't get killed... other than that use wires.
