Hit by Car - Video Included

Post by Kentertainment »

This weekend we began filming our latest short film titled What's Wrong With You?! It is a dark comedy/dramady about a person who attempts to commit suicide. When his friends find out they (well...one of the two) decide to have an intervention to fix the problem and along the way the three realize what their friendship is really about.

Well, today we filmed the failed suicide attempt scene which happens to involve the depressed person running in front of a car. Now acting as this depressed person is are usual actor (I Want Money, Yearning for a Bed) and he isn't really trained in stunts. We have a friend who owns stunt pads and has taken some training in stunt work and luckily he looks just like our actor. So using his stunt ways, he happily volunteered to be our victim.

Needless to say, after multiple angles and nine attempts he walked away unharmed. Well, I've decided to load unedited footage of the best version of the stunt (located below). Watch his slipper, it goes sailing and eventually lands on the garbage can to the right of frame. Our speed was 20mph.

It looked real but didn't look like it would hurt him that much, then again it is a FAILED suicide attempt.

Yeah I thought it looked good man but really im sure you were careful anyway (and had the adequate precautions available in the advent of an accident etc.)

I know you'll be careful but as always BE CAREFUL doing this kind of stunt work!

But good work K ;)

I'd imagine when it's all cut together properly it's going to look really painful. Am I right?
I thought it looked great - ambitious and pulled off well.
Looking forward to the final film.

Well it looks very expected. The stunyt looks somewhat in control. Editing and angles will fix this

Thanks guys for the comments, I can tell you that it does look a lot better when edited, I've been messing around with the clips.

I'm just bumping this thread...I know there are a lot of morbid, violent loving people on this forum and I figured this would be perfect for them. Let me know what you guys think...and once again, thanks to all those that have responded thus far.

That looked so fake, I could see the wires!

It was pretty damn good. Do you have a close up of it too?

Yep. We have an angle from the interior of the car, down on the street looking head-on, and another on the street looking at an angle, I'm just saving the rest for the actual movie. My only issue is the slippers are actually flying off on their own so there really isn't control over where they go and in each clip it's different. I'm going to have to do some tricky editing to cover it up.

Good, I bet that the interior shot looks wicked painful.

Did you use AfterEffects to make the car?

What would have been better was to have a camera in the middle of the car looking out the windshield.

We did. We got an angle from the apartment roof (what you see) we're filming at, down on the street looking head on, down on the street at an angle, and looking out the windshield. I just uploaded the best looking of the 4 angles.

I'm guessing the camera in the car didn't have a polarising filter so you saw your reflection? Post the other 3 up.

Yeah, that was a joke, because most effects like this are CG.
Sorry, it was stupid.

Wait for the film. And, a poliariZing filter isn't the only way to rid of reflection, so you don't see the reflection.
