Thanks for the link. Had to edit the post to correct the URL.

This is the technique we hope to adapt for Hollow Point.

Any feedback from anyone who has used this method would be appreciated !

The problems we had with the original MTL VCD were also related to the DVD player we tried them in I think.

I changed the standalone player and I don't think we saw those particular problems again.

The problem we saw was a large area of red (intro text) having dark patches on it.

Recently I had a problem using Adobe Premiere 6 so I used Pinnacle Studio 7 to create a VCD I was working on.

It is quite good for basic stuff.

The Kylie VCD turned out quite well :)

Thanks for the tip. We could use this in our next film.

In my travels I have found a few websites that detail this sort of effect. Some of them use tubing and compressed air to 'blow' the blood through holes in peoples clothes etc.

Hello, Done some tests and I reckon your problem is one of two things : 1) Transparency : Have you set this correctly? When you set the transparency to 'lumenence' do you see the muzzle flash overlaid on your footage in the little preview window? Click here for transparency settings pic 2) Video Tra...

True, but that is a non-standard VCD (XVCD) and might not play properly on some equipment.

For your own use it probably doesn't matter.

A VCD can only hold a stereo soundtrack.

More info from :

VCDHelp VCD Info

A SVCD usually only stores a stereo soundtrack but can hold an MPEG2 Multichannel (5.1) soundtrack. Only certain equipment plays this format.

In the olden days (say, the year 2000) getting a decent capture card wasn't easy. These days it isn't so hard. Even the most modest of PC is capable of fairly decent video capture. I bought a Studio DC10+ capture card and it worked fine in my AMD 400MHz. I have read reports that even some 30 TV card...

If this was a one-off project you could download a 30 day trial of Adobe Premiere or an alternative such as Ulead Mediastudio Pro. A 30 day trial is available from here : Ulead MediaStudio Pro 30 Day Trial Not used it myself but it seems to have a fairly good list of features. I would be suprised if...

Using a 74minute CDR you can fit just over 70minutes of video on a CDR. Or just under 80 minutes on an 80 minute CDR. The important thing to remember is that a VideoCD uses a constant bitrate. That's the standard. So no matter what your source is, once it is converted to VCD format MPEG1 it will use...

Premiere is the package we use for all our video editing needs. There are a number of reasons why we use Premiere which should explain why it gets a fair few mentions! 1. There are a few fundamental differences between VCD and SVCD. 1) VCD uses MPEG1 compression to fit about 70-80 minutes of video onto a single CD. The bit rate and resolution are fixed so 10 mins always takes up the same about of space. 2) SVCD uses MPEG2 compression. The bit rate is variable meaning...

TMPGEnc has an 'mpeg tools' section which allows you to cut/merge mpegs.
I have used it for videocd stuff. The latest version is 2.54 i think.

The official demos are available from http://www.tmpgenc.net/ but other versions are available from 'unofficial' sites.

273mm long x 183mm high.

Front cover width = 129mm
Spine width = 14mm
Back cover width = 130mm

Cover Measured = Metal Gear Solid 2 (technically a PS2 game, but they're in
DVD cases)

Hope that helps
