I disagree with Epsilon about people just seeing those movies for gore. There's a lot to those movies, the good ones I mean. The Evil Dead trilogy is full of brilliant camera work and ingenuity in terms of effects. They're also hilarious! And the Romero Dead Trilogy is good writing and social commen...

Actually it will only be made if he can raise the money to make it, which he hasn't been able to do yet. So there may never be a fourth dead film.
But Dawn of the Dead is being remade as we speak, without George's permission. And it will probably suck.

Day of the Dead has the best gore ever! Without a doubt it is the undisputed champ. But Dead Alive, and Bad Taste are both great too. The Bad Taste special edition DVD has a great documentary about how Peter Jackson made the movie. Very DIY. He even made the guns himself out of fimo, wood, and metal...

As long as the camera doesn't move, and the focus and exposure is locked, then you can easily hide a split screen.

I had a teacher in art school who had sheep guts and blood, poured over him for a some piece of performance art. A day or two later, after he had showered a whole bunch, his ear started bleeding. He had developed a terrible infection which apparently lasted months. Everyday he would wake up with his...

Check the Forrest Gump DVD for behind the scenes special effects. He was wearing green-screen stockings, and in some scenes parts of the set were added in later, so that his green stocking legs could pass right through them while performing.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your comments and suggestions. Lorenzo_amateur_prods, I explain teh car stunt in the other thread. Insert_coin, I like the idea of a chewed up ear and will look into that. Great gruesome detail. As for the blood looking purple, I want to defend it because it doesn't ...

Thanks fellas! The car part was done with a dummy; a fully poseable standing dummy, like a giant GI JOE that I built with my brother. It's edited together with a shot of an actor in costume rolling off a moving car. I did 5 takes of my friend Paul rolling off the car. It was totally dangerous and st...

Monofoam is the expanding, insulating foam you find in hardware stores in the paint section. It comes out as this yellowish foam, then expands and hardens. People use it around window frames, etc. I will post a picture of it, on my movie page before the day is done. A ten dollar canister was more th...

If anyof the moderators want to attach this whole thread to the other thread I made, that would be cool. I didn't mean to start a whole new thread, just to reply to the last post in my old thread.

Thanks XeFx309 and Carnage7p!

The blood on all the actors is corn syrup with blue, yellow and red food colouring. The guts in the mostly-eaten-dummy are simply made with monofoam. Then painted with glossy red acrylic paint. All the blood on the dummies is red acrylic paint.

Check out my zombie trailer, and stills.

What do you guys think? I've been labouring over this production for a long time, and I've run into many obstacles. It's still not finished. I hope it looks intriguing.

Pretty cool body eh?

I can't help you. All I can offer is that I've downloaded the videos and used them in Premiere without any problem. So the videos are fine. You should be using them in Video Track 2 or above, and using the transparency luminence function. And after all that you should be rendering before viewing. Ho...

I've been using my friends as actors, and I learned to film chronologically and expect the worst. I don't mind when they have ideas or want to add something, but I do mind when they don't want to rehearse or when they think a day of shooting means 2 hours. I had to rewrite the zombie movie I'm doing...

It's all in the editing. Just blow up a dummy. Cut from the actor to the dummy just as it blows. It doesn't even have to be very realistic dummy. As long as the explosion happens in the same spot the audience just saw the actor in.

Create a piece of black video, add the lens flare, click on luminosity under transparency, so that the black part is see-through, then change the motion settings for that clip. And make sure, under "motion", the fill colour is black.
I haven't done it before but I think that should work.

Yea, I had made lots of blood to shoot with and I still have gallons of blood to finish shooting with. But my actors are my friends, and they work for free, and they all have full time jobs... which means reshooting is impossible because shooting in the first place is almost impossible. The first co...

anyone up for it?

I guess nobody wants to do it for me? Yea, I know it sounds lazy. I just don't want to go through all the work of making a screen etc. I'm busy editing, scoring, and still have half a movie to shoot (this time with more blood on-set.) I figure everyone could use a good blood squirting avi file. Just...
