reflexive_cinematics, Could you list the exact settings you used for the levels? It looks pretty good. Well I didn't really use and ' numbers ' or anything. That was done in Premiere Pro using the Color Correction effect. The most important is the Black level. Use the splitscreen option and then tr...

hmmm

I dont know if I like the effect...to me it seems that most of the color get's lost. I mean that's ok if that's the exact look your going for, but being 'film like' doesn't necessarily mean that you desaturate the footage. I just did this to show the method that I use. I took some footage of some mo...

Thanks for all the replys guys... Yeah this was a VERY short creation, like took 2 hours start to finish i think. Just screwin around... In the process though of writing a script for a comedy based on my experiences. Comedy is hard but I can't really regret it unless i try.

I'll add one.

If your directing the bit, it's vital that you have a megaphone to yell 'cut' and then a directors chair to relax after a hard days work of yelling 'cut' over and over. :P

RE: Ground Explosion Test

Wouldn't it look a little better/ more real if you made sort of like a mine? what i mean is, put an explosive device underneath a 'thing' of flour mixed with some dirt and then when it blows, the spread would be more/ larger. ( instead of like a rocket shooting upward )

Nothing happens. Not that I know of. A lot of times what i do is capture my footage, convert it to 24p, and then export to tape and recapture. Never have any problems

RE: frame rates

Right. Most cameras are set at between 60 and 100. I set my shutter to 30 and that gives a little bit of motion blur and it's very subtle. Anytyhing less than that and you will get jerky. For shots i know i will make slowmo later, I will set my shutter as high as 1000. ( i've actually shot something...

I believe you need two video cards. Or just one that has a video output so that you can use your computer and TV at the same time.

The problem is your setting your color setting to Millions of Color +. Stop. lol. Just leave it or set it to Millions of Colors. I think what happens is that somehow it's trying to 'upsample' the colors so to speak. Sort of like if you have a 96kbps mp3 and then you try to save it as a 192kpbs mp3. ...

I'm sure its like the a setting to make the shutter speed lower to make that jerky effect. If it's subtle, then try it. Why not?

Just record both dialogues as best as you can, and as clean as you can. Then in post edit it together the way you want it and then EQ the voices to make them sound like 'phone' voices.

Here's is the easiest and best way to get a more professional look on a 0 budget. IMO ( just my $.02) 1)Like was said above, pay attention to your shot composition, angles, etc... and pay attention to depth of field. You can get an appearance of a shorter lens by backing up and zooming in to your su...
