RE: night lighting - I have a problem
didn't watch scooby doo much huh? Not sure, maybe if you shot it just before one of the two golden hours (early morning or evening) as the sun is right below the horizon. You'll get the light from it, but not the brightness.

RE: Lighting for a Night Scene
The effect you'll probably end up with (depending on where you're shooting etc) is called tenebrism ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenebrism ). The reason you'll get this effect is that the lights you'll be using aren't big enough to light up a whole area effectively for capturing well on camera. Go...

We shot fabulously (really cool looking footage), then fell asleep (literally) on the edit...next year, we'll have more than one editor working together on it to keep each other going. I would've woken him, but I was downstairs shooting. We need to add a second camera just for tape import. We need t...

99% of the population has benefitted from the phone being simple to operate... .01% of the population could build their own... The computer's promis in the 70's and 80's was that it would change the world for the better. 90% of the population is on a PC and don't have the foggiest clue how to operat...

I aspire to be the ordinary safe type that can get paid to make films...the successful auteur directors (kubrik, welles, lynch, waters) are so few and far between (especially now) that I don't think there's a market for the types of films that are produced in an unsafe way. I have kids to feed and a...

My mice all have 2 buttons and have for the past 10 years. I don't use the standard apple mouse, I spent $10 on a crappy USB one...works like a champ. And I get all the same contextual menus you do, I have since OS 8.6 10ish years ago. I couldn't do with out my scroll button...I even carry around a ...

A director is much more of a circus ring master than anything on shoot day...in Pre production, he spends time communicating his vision (dictated from conversations with the producer) to the other departments and approving the look off stuff to fit into the universe he'll be creating. In Post produc...

Find something physical to do that makes sense for the character and the scene...Make a pot of coffee while delivering your lines, whatever. Know your lines back and forth, so you don't have to spend time recalling them in the moment, they just happen...then use them as REACTIONS to events around yo...

wow...too bad I'm old and nerdy ;) Here are my issues...they're all little things. Interfaces between programs are inconsistant. Machines locking up? How long ago was that? Sounds more like the OS9 and lower days. OSX hardly locks...I've experienced maybe 10 crashes in the past 5 years under OSX (dating back to developer's preview 4). I am a producer/director/cinematographer currently...I'm working on leaning more toward the DP side of things. I've hooked up with a few good writers. I write well, but couldn't possibly ever finish a script...I don't have that kind of brain. On set, a director shouldn't get a chance to be bored...i...

it's in the subtext: Kene says he doesn't prefer macs... you say that's not an ok option...that it's a naive stance (this may have been the point of confusion - depending on its target) Tto be fair, I pointed out that you shouldn't then have a problem with PC's... you reiterate that you do...
