This Monday I am lucky enough to finish off my film by using the school's Canon GL2 and XL2(or XL H1, not sure which one we have).
i have never before used these, any tips on getting the best out of them? Will be filming inside.

This is going to be shown at school, so no blood or gore. Some smoke is all I will add to it.

cutting a person in half
In my film, a person standing still(relatively) is to be cut in half by a lightsaber. I have After Effects. Exactly how would I go about shooting this sequence?

RE: graphics card
I edit DV, and occasionally Hi8. Whenever I try to playback video (Premiere Pro 2) playback is stuttery, and jerks back and forth for ages as it buffers enough to play back smoothly.

RE: Untitled Script.. Need Ideas
talk to the play director. get people at school who can act to help you. they will gain experience and so will you by working with them. maybe the student loses control because the bullies pull a stunt on him in front of the school (at an assembly or pep rally?) I think it is possible to get some po...

graphics card
My computer is great in everything but graphics. I've got a great processor and a gig of RAM, but integrated graphics. And this really slows down when editing. Would it be worth the money to get a PCI-Express graphics card? The downside is that the only PCI-E slot that my computer has is 1X.

RE: What Version of Adobe is this....?
The first 1 is pro 2.0 for sure, while the 2nd one could be pro 2.0 or 1.5 If they are both the same, the color is different b/c its an option you can have (a white-ish interface to a dark grey, and anything in between) 2.0 is good(its what I use) and the main difference between it and 1.5 is that 2...

RE: Hollow Point Effect
It would be my guess that they used After Effects to get this effect. In After Effects 6.5 Pro, the program comes with a bundle of effects called CC Effects, aka Cycore Effects. One of Cycore's plugins, Lightrays, can achieve this effect.

If you only have imovie and photoshop, you'll want to try and export your saber footage as a series of pictures, like a filmstrip. You will need to go frame by frame with the effect. With Photoshop, import the frame. Then, create a new layer. On the blank layer, use the polygonal lasso tool to make ...

3d shadows question
I use Bryce 6 for my 3D animation. To use it in my videos, I put a blue background behind the 3D subject, and use Keylight in After Effects 6.5 Pro. How can I put a 3D object in my video, and also give it a shadow. Like, for example, if I import a video of a spaceship made in Bryce, how can I put a ...
