I'm going to do a tutorial on this effect in the future but until then heres a quick description of how I did it ... 1) First I bought a cheap airbed pump. It is a styrup style pump with a plunger. 2) Bought some 5mm clear rubber tubing from B&Q (DIY/Hardware store). 3) Using electrical tape I m...

Headshot SFX Test

Finally dug out my air pump, some rubber tubing and a volunteer ... The resulting head shot wound is available from the Hollow Point page The blood isn't quite the right colour. This was due to the washing up liquid I added to the food colouring 'foaming' in the last few milliseconds. The effect is ...

I like the effects. The titles are very well done. Hope there is more to come. Oh and it's nice to see a female role .... something our films lack. Maybe someday I can pursuade someone other than my mates to be in my films.

Unfortunately I think that previous thread and its pearls of wisdom got blown away when I restored the backup. Any repeat info would be appreciated.

It may be worth installing the latest Microsoft Mediaplayer software available from their site. Media player 9 is it? There is also a codec pack available from their site as well I seem to remember. My DV codec (in XP) seems to be called 'Microsoft DV'. Not sure where this codec came from but it was...

DIY AK47 The Story So Far

Just given my AK a few coats of black paint. I've stuck some new photos in the DIY AK47 Tutorial page

The 3 photos are in the painting section, Step 13.

You'll notice myself and my girlfriend are in traditional Bristol costume :)

I have just finished painting my AK black. I need to spray it again and then get my girlfriend to paint the walnut stock and grips :)

If any of my neighbours looked into my garden they will now think I am a terrorist plotting something bad!

Car Mounted Camera Shots

Ok, once I've finished all my DIY tasks I'm going to make a car mount for my camcorder. Has anyone tried this? Any tips?

We used an airsoft H&K MP5 in GUTS. It looked just like the real thing. We know this because the police we spoke to later that day had real ones and they looked identical. After we explained that we were making a film they stopped pointing them at us ... They were well impressed with my prop bom...

I'm no expert but I to fire blanks a gun must be modified. Normal bullets generate lots of back pressure which re-cocks the gun ready to fire the next round. Blanks don't generate enough pressure so you can't fire blanks in a machine gun .... unless its got an attachment on the barrel to increase th...

Panasonic GS5 Camcorder

The camcorder I bought recently is a Panasonic GS5. It does everything it claims to so I am really pleased with it. One of the reasons I paid the extra to get the GS5 rather than the GS3 is the fact it has an SD card which can store photos, MPEG4 clips and audio recordings. Thought the audio recordi...

I've never done any light sabre effects but I have come across a few sites on the web that have. It appears to be a painstaking process of drawing on a lightsabre glow on every frame.

I use Adobe Premiere for gunshots. See my special effects section for a tutorial as mentioned by Mushiman.

Yeah an MOT test is something UK cars have to have done every year.

Adam, haven't you sold that car yet? You better hurry up cos they are prone to burst into flames due to the dodgy wiring ....

Obviously cars bursting into flames are ok aslong as you have a camera handy to film it.

I am in the process of blowing up a building ... using FX, obviously. At some point I'll do a tutorial. Basically I shot some footage of an office building. Used premiere and 3D Studio max I blew out the windows, the roof and a chunk of structure. Added a few fiery explosions and sound FXs. This was...

I have just checked the A4 templates. I have screwed up the GIF file export by the looks of it. Damn :( All the images are the same size except I have exported only the objects from CorelDraw (rather than the whole page) so most of them are disorted. Sorry about that. I will export and post as soon ...

I think Adam's idea is that the airbag WOULD kill the driver ! I like the spike in the steering wheel idea. My boss drives like a lunatic because "he has got traction control so doesn't need to worry". The other day he was driving down the motorway and drove into a roof box lying in the mi...

Sitting in a shopping trolley could also work. You could 'borrow' one from a supermarket.
