It would be more like: Chris: "Throw it to me Matt...." Matt: "throw what?" Chris: "You idiot, what is it you're holding in your hands" Matt: "uuuhh a sleeping bag?" Chris: "yes, so throw it to me" Matt: "Why would i want to do that for, Chris?&...

I would love to see a sex orgy inside jabba the hut's lair. All these blue women with worms coming out of their heads and strange creatures with 28 penisses and stuff, gotta be the best absurd porn movie ever. I'd recommend a budget of 30 million...

means of distriburion

Well, what i was wondering is what means of distribution do people here use for their films. Are they just made for family and friends, or are there also people who seriously try to reach a wider audience by distributing andselling their films, maybe on dvd(to videotheques or through the internet) a...

It all depends on where you want to show your film. Is it made just for tv/dvd in the US, then it would not be wise to film PAL. however, you wish to transfer the DV lateron to film, the resolution is higher of PAL, and the framerate is more that of film. It is also possible to put the 30 fps of nts...

I am not quite sure what danny boyle and his crew on 28 days later used to record on, wether they used the minidv system of the camera itsself or had a custommade recordingunit(on a HD), what i do know is that they used more than just th standard xl1. They had lenses and converters that cost more th...

courses are given everywhere, i cannot imagine a country or state that does not have them, ask your local fire department for info. call around. legislations are different in each country. with some luck they are not so tough in your area and you can buy your squibs right away after completing the c...

Yes, the only way you can make DV look like film is using cinelook for the grain, once it is filmed. Film looks so good, because these peoplein the movie industry use hyperexpensive lenses. If you wish to have for instance the foreground out of focus, the middle(subject really sharp and the backgrou...

well well, i see a lot of confused people here, so let me explain... DV is already a compressed format, compressed inside a digital camera and then recorded on a tape(like te old commodore 64 did in the old days) so when you transfer video from a dv tape to your computer, there is no further compres...

buy a european dv camera, it has 720 by 576 pixels with 25 fps(higher resolution and almost the same framerate as film) ntsc system camera's are 30 fps on a much smaller resolution of 640 x 480.
chosse one where it is possible for you to adjust shutter speed, focus, iris(diafragma) etc. manually.

making them your self is rather tedious, yet not impossible. go for a pyrotechnics course and get a license, so you can buy them , after that there's only your imagination to limit you. otherwise i'd try and get some on the black market somehow.... If neither is an option, stick with the compressed ...

I'd go with two shots from the same position. First film your actor, wearing a vest with aprox. 20 small shaped hits(i'd go for some d60's), also make similar pads for the legs and arms. Let them gp off from a switchboard, with timers set on 75 per second. do not forget the condoms filled with blood...

I clearly understand that you must have liked the boy choir chant, otherwise you wouldn't have made tedious shots , filmed from outside the car of some cornfields. 10 seconds would have been enough. If you really wish to let the whole song hear, then you should have made some close ups(hands on stee...

make the container in a cone shaped form. also, if you want a fireball, you might want to add gasoline to the debris mixture ans a electrical squib to set of the sprayed gasoline cloud. however i personally believe in the use of explosives more than compressed gas...

The best idea for a script, when you are tight on a budget and cannot afford a lot of extra's costumes vehicles and such, is to set the movie in a confined area(bunker, foxhole, ruin, forrest, trench etc.) where they are cutoff from their own company/ army and must deal with the hardships on their o...

tracer fire

For a shootout for my movie i used one shot where the bullet is seen flying through the actor. I used a tracer effect to make it look more impressive together with a squib and airpressure bullethit. What i did was take out the three frames that contained the tracerfire and draw at first in photoshop...
