I don't really want it to explode like a real molotov cocktail. I just want something that looks like gasoline when I pour it in the bottle. For explosions i'm going to throw the bottle and then CG the explosion. I figured that would be the safest way.

That sounds like it could work. Can I do that in Adobe Premiere? I got it a few days ago but haven't had the chance to install it.

I want to have a scene in my upcoming movie where some of the characters throw oil in a river and then drop a lit match on it. I want to have the river light up on fire and catch a few people in it on fire. Does anyone know of a safe way to do this?

I've never tried this so I'm not sure how well it would work, but if there was no blaze orange junk in your scene's background could you chroma key the orange tip to black in post-production? I came up with the idea when I was looking at weapon replicas and junk like that for the movie i'm working on.

Hey sky? I'm not sure if you knew this or not, but blanks are going to run you a few hundred dollars a piece, especially world war 2 styled ones. I think you're better off making fake guns and adding in digital muzzle blasts. Just a suggestion.

I work a lot with 3d Studio Max at school and with Anim8or at home. If you want freeware, anim8or is the way to go. The interface is farely simple.

I have a friend who did a stunt like this, although it was by accident. When filming they had a guy get shot and fall back. When he fell back he broke a crack in the wall. So we refilmed and had him jump backwards completely through. It looks great. I'll try to get the footage from him.
