I'm internet retarded, so I've never posted anything up. To film using my housing I use the remote that came with my camera, which I put in a couple ziplock baggies, then aim through the front window of the camera housing. If your camera doesn't have a remote you'll just have to start the camera the...

I've got the exact same problem, and have had it for more than a month. It's nigh impossible to get rid of the freakin' things. Of course I am rather lazy, but I would also appreciate any advice here.

I think if you plugged up all of the little holes with some sponge that would soak up the blood (So you can't see them when they get blasted out)you would be able to fill the whole system to the top with blood, and it would stay in while the actor moved.

Hunh, milk, never would have thought of that. The problem is I'm still paying off the debt on my camera, so I can't afford any fancy editing programs, all I'm running right now is Pinnacle 8 on a painfully slow computer :(

Raining When It's Not

I'm looking for a way to make rain on a fairly large scale, but on a location where there aren't any hose outlets or the like, I've tried some small scale things that work well, but nothing that can cover much area. The rain doesn't have to be sustained for long, its for a flash monsoon in a Vietnam...

Good looking guns Tallman, however your Thompson seems to be missing the end of its' barrel! I'm assuming you meant 1.8 inch, not 1.8 cm thick wood, otherwise you might want to consider laminating two or three pieces of it together to gain some thickness.
And glad to be of help, Tobbger.

Yeah Epsilon always seems to have great suggestions and movies, but we've never seen any war stuff. Luke, if the gun you want to paint is made of wood just use a dark wood stain, you can pick up small cans of it for like three bucks.

The key here is many layers of papeir mache, like Epsilon said. I've tried this before, and I didn't use enough layers. It collapsed like a sack of beans as soon as I took it off the helmet.

If thats what you do I'd fill it with as much blood as physically possible, and pressurize the bottle to the point where you fear for your life. Look forward to the pics

Split screen effect with the same actor interacting with himself (Not that, get your minds out of the gutter) in the same shot. Like in The Nutty Proffesor, or Austin Powers. (No mirrors, they have to be in different clothing)

Yesterday I did the coffee creamer explosion that Tallman suggested. The pictures and video on Detonation Films don't do this thing justice. On my third try, after working out some problems, I mannaged to make a ten foot tall fireball!! I did manage to singe off the ends of my hair, so it's not as s...

Same, I've gotten all of my helmets (Vietnam Era, with cover, liner, rigging and straps) for $20 CAD at the local army surplus. I've also bought numerous British WWII era helmets (Just the Shell, no liner or straps) for five bucks. I've never seen a Germal helmet for sale though, I guess I'll hafta ...

I have glued some rings of rubber that I cut from a wheelbarrow innertube (Basically giant rubber bands) to the bottom, inside of the PVC, put the camera in, then stretch the bands over the top of the camera, it holds it in fairly securely, it does help to stuff some foam in around the camera though...

Through a fairly simple process. Take a screen shot at the exact moment you want the muzzle flash to appear. Open the screenshot in Paint, or another pic editing program and paste or draw in the muzzle flash. Save that file, then reinsert it into the project inbetween the split clip where you took t...

Oops!! Apologies to Tallman, guess I've been taking a little too much cold medicine lately :? I usually use only wood for my props, or metal if It's possible, but for some things cardboard is more convienient and easilly worked with.

I dunno, seems a little big for a handgun, looks more floury than smokey. What are you editing on, it's not that hard to add muzzle flashes. I'm just using Pinnacle Studio 8.

Edit: I meant big for a muzzle flash from a handgun by the way, not the gun itself

The only gun I've ever broken during filming was a dollar store handgun that had the slide ripped off. That and having to give a few guns a new coat of paint. The one with the cardboard barrel will otherwise be made of wood, but I'm using a cardboard tube because the "shells" it uses fit p...

I've got this stuff called Modge Podge (or something like that) that you just brush on the cardboard. I suspect it's nothing more than glue, but after 10 coats (It dries quick) you can stand on a cardboard tube without it bending!
