RE: PD-150 picture quality problem
What are your export settings, compressor, bit rate etc... what editor are you outputting it with? Unless you are doing a lot of processing on the images, then it should be every bit as sharp on the TV as it is on the editor.

RE: Sony PD150?
The only real difference between DVCAM and DV is that DVCAM uses locked audio. Other than that both are 25 Mb/sec stream with 4:1:1 ( or 4:2:0 PAL) color sampling at roughly 5:1 compression. DVCAM also runs the tape a bit faster, and is less susceptible to drop outs due to the fact that any one area...

RE: Why wouldn
Interlaced doesn't give you more frames, it gives you more fields, but each field only contains half the information, the rest is interpolated when you slow down and goe to progressive. Deinterlaced footage isn't quite the same as shooting progressive, but it is really close. the biggest difference ...

Technically you are in violatin of copyright as soon as you synch teh music to your video. TV is definitely an issue since the broadcaster must submit a 'que sheet' to BMI/ASCAP to pay their performance license requirement for any music that is used on say the news. There is alwasy the risk when pub...

RE: sound effects royalty free where can i
Lots of royalty free music out there, a lot less free music. The difference being, royalty free you pay for the library once ( sometimes called buy-out music), and do not need to pay individual royalties ( pay per use is a needle-drop license) for it's use under the license. Free music, of course yo...

RE: copyright question
Again depends who shot it, if it is actual government footage, then the footage is good to go with one provision. If the speech was done while he was president, then it should be free to use, if it was after his term in office, then there could be copyright issues with the content. Remeber even the ...

Just to upgdate this thread real quick, just got my first order from Beach Camera and it was a great experience. having always been a B&H customer, I was a little leary of ordering somewhere else, but beach had great reviews, so I took a shot. a slight upsell, and in fact I did get the accessory...

RE: VX2100 Vs FX1E?
While I can't answer a lot of the HD capture questions.... I would say go with the VX2100 for what you want to shoot. When shooting videos, make sure the band and their light man understand that you need a certain level of minimum light, and that must be maitained. Also you can't work with all back ...

RE: VX2100 Audio?
VX2100 has a stereo mini jack for mic input so using balanced mics requires an external mixer/preamp like the beachtek. The audio is much better if run through some type of mixer and then fed at line level voltage with the mic selector set to line. I use a little Radio Shack four channel battery pow...

RE: LANC JACK
Sweet rig, now if there was just a way to stuff timecode on 5 DV cameras it would be perfect for multicam synching LOL.... we generally have 4 or 5 video tracks we synch to the master audio track. Still would be nice to have the TC synch for one cam tho. May have to explore the possibilities further.

I've never seen any LANC audio gear, it is all for remote control of the record function, zoom etc, never saw anything that would allow you to synch audio from an external recording device use LANC. I suppose theoretically it could looking at the protocol, but it would require a dedicated piece of h...

Put the HD on the secondary channel as the master, and the burner as the slave. The master drive on teh channel provides the controller for both devices on that channel. The burner controller is most likely not designed to support HD throughput speeds...

You can buy tapes bulk on line in lots of 10 for about $3.50 per tape. Batteries will depend on the capacity, High capacity Sony tapes run $50 - $150 US. I just bought two. One real Sony NPF-570 (2200 mAh about 3 - 3.5 hrs run time ) was $60.00 at Wal- Mart. I ordered an off brand replacement on EBa...

RE: Copyright your material through your website!
Copyright is established asd soon as something is 'fixed' in some kind of media, written photgraphed, recorded.. Proof of that date does become a bit more complicated. The only way to actually register a copyright id through your national copyright office. In the US it costs $30.00. You can however ...

That's what it sounds like, contact the cam manufacturer for info on repairs and costs, I would think the FW circuit would probably be isolated on it's own board, and the rest of the cam should be pretty well protected, definitely replace the FW card tho before connecting anything else as well as re...

Believe it or not, the analog vieo will probably key better, getting it into the PC without dropping frames at full size is a bit tougher, but you avoid the DV jaggies. That being said, Using a good DV cam can produce great results. Personally I use Serious Magic's Ultra for all our keying. The cont...

It sounds like you got voltage onto one of the data lines on teh firewire. PCs normally use a 6 pin connector at the PC, and 4 pin on the camera end. The two unused are the + - DC voltage lines ( not sure if they are 5 or 12), if you get a pin bent in the PC connector, either the card or teh cable, ...
