The only real problem I had was the muzzle flashes- they should've been much more opaque. Also the whole 24 split screen thing. Other than that, I really liked it. The shootout between the cops and gangsters at the end was well done, even if it did go all Tony Scott on everyone. The SWAT teams didn'...

RE: Machinima music video

Heh, that's a hellacious bump :) I've actually gotten a fair amount of exposure in the gaming community with my machinima flicks - my last major project has had a total of around 4,500 views (half YouTube, half Google Video,) so it really is an effective way to get yourself out there. Especially whe...

Funny, in a sadly ironic kind of way.

Honestly, I'd try not to show an explosion/crash. Show the people in the interior of the bus, screaming as if they're about to crash into a power station. Make sure the audio - bus engine, people - build to a crescendo, then cut out all audio as you cut to black. Or maybe your standard close up slow...

An over exposed picture is when there's way too much 'light pollution.' - the sky is bright that it bleeds, skin tones look unnaturally pale, all around crappy and amateurish picture. Lowering the exposure setting corrects that and sets the appropriate mood.

Holy God! You're back!

Fantastic work - great acting, cinematography, effects (especially,) and music choice. Liked the cameo at the end too :)

500 to 1000 dollars for an indie film isn't that big. In fact it's very small. It's only big to those of you that don't have jobs :P

A large budget for an amateur production would be 50 to 100,000 dollars, so yes this is a small budget.

It's not a cap, it's a complete barrel plug. In compliance with federal laws, there can't be anyway to modify them to fire projectiles of any kind - so they plug up the barrel and make it impossible for you to field strip the gun. Which is a pain when the damned thing starts falling apart on you (I ...

RE: Canon XL2!!!

I go to community college. This year's tuition: 3,200 dollars. This semester's book cost: 450 dollars. That means this year I'm probably going to be spending a total of 1800 on books alone.

I use Premiere 6.5.

Once you've got a large portion of the little tricks and nuances down, it covers most of your editing and basic special effects needs.

www.divx.com

Great quality for the smaller file sizes. I guess you could use Windows Movie Maker to compress it to .wmv, but the smaller you get, the glitchier it gets - you usually don't get that with DivX.

Uh, rhys, explosions in space aren't possible because there's no air to feed the flames - space is a vacuum. I dunno what the hell you were talking about with the gravity and whatnot.

The whole thing would be easier if the victim was put on his knees first, that way you could get a low angle shot looking up at the shooter - when the shotgun goes off, the blood could be shot from an air compressor from below the frame onto the camera lense for an extra gory effect. But so far I th...
