Fused

For these firecrackers I have, they have to short a fuse. I want to light them with diffrent length fuses like a machine gun hits. So what kind of material should I use to lengthen the fuse?

I think the only way would be to get a new one, ATI Radeon 9000 or 9800 or something. It can be played on the XBOX too, HL2 is coming to the XBOX too. Does HL2 run ok? It could be just Splinter Cell 3... You could try lowering the anti aliasing and whatnot. It sounds like a lot of people are having ...

www.sounddogs.com has some crowd noises. Or tape them off of TV or live, at a show, play or whatever.

RE: The force and air ripples...

The refractions should do it, but you can add more in AE or use a preset in your 3d program.

RE: The force and air ripples...

Create fluids around it and contain it, and give each shader or both refractions.

Documentary Things

Hi, I got FCE HD a little while ago and I'm making a documentary, and what are some things I could do to make it interesting, filters, color correction, blend audio, etc. There's a part where it's too dark to make out details, so how could I make it more visible without it looking bad? General help ...

RE: The force and air ripples...

The blue shader would be in 3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave etc. It's map by the way, and you should look into books for your CG program, if you're going to use it a lot.

RE: The force and air ripples...

With the blue shader, make a bumpy bump map, blur it and make it glow, which will illuminate it. Then keyframe it the way you want. You could also add some fluids around it to make it ripple and such.

For greenscreen you could do better, they're good for editing but not the best at greenscreen.

Like someone said, it would be much easier to control, instead of using a squib or weedsprayer on set. Sometimes doing it digitaly can sometimes be easier and it's really just a matter of prefrence. What type of player or update to VLC (I have a mac, please don't start that battle) should I download...

Synthesizer yes spelled right.
Soundtrack has a trial version too, which is easier than Garageband, and you just stack loops.

RE: Motion Capture

Usually motion capture involves motion capture cameras, but www.highend3d.com might have some good info.
Google 3ds Max Tutorials, that might bring up something. Although I would go with Keyframe animation, Mocap is for exact animation which can be achieved by keyframing.

This may sound...odd...but the Godzilla (1998) commentary, which featured the Special Effects department, was pretty good, although the movie was not. They describe which shots are composites, CG etc.

I might try tests with fireworks and such.
For cheap bullet hits I sometimes use those popper things you throw at the ground. It makes a little poof, and I'm trying to make it bigger.

Just draw like a yellow-white line and keyframe it. Or use bottle rockets or something. www.detonationfilms.com has some I think.

It's not terrible, just basic. I wouldn't think it would do a good job bluescreening, and if you want to do a lot of filmaking, you should get Premeire or FC or something.
