if you still need an idea for the flour to prevent it from reacting with water over time: mix it with a lof of salt, so it wont react this way, instead it will dry completely over time. Add some gre-ish color to make it look like real c4 plastic.

RE: Quick Newbie Camera Question

If the movie is boring, it will look pixelated anyway. There have been a very few DV Movies in theaters. If it's a good movie then it's ok. It's much more important how good your camera is, and your pictures. If you use a semiprofessional 3CCD Camera, it may look pretty good. If you use a cheap 1/6C...

Alternatives to AE etc.

Are there any alternatives to Commercial Apps like AfterEffects etc.? Well, I am talking about freeware. I know there is DVAlam (or something) that is very cheap, but due to the No-Budget philosophy I first want to see if there is any freeware.

As far as I see this apps name may differ in germany, switzerland and austria: MAGIX Video Deluxe 2005. I have got it. I paid 90 Swiss Francs for it, that's about 60 US$. All I can say is: this app rules. I have 16 Tracks that can be Video or Audio each. Clips are automaticly grouped to video plus A...

RE: how to figure out used webspace?

I have never seen any Contol Panel on a FTP based Host. But maybe this works, depending on the FTP Client App you are using: Select all folders, then click properties. If there is a properties button at all. In theory it should be possible to code the client this way. It simply would get information...

Thanks for explaining me this. Unfortunately the DVC30 and the DVX100are a little more pricy than the GS400.

Well Sony usually keeps supporting their products for a very long time. I still got a mavica digi camera that saves images to a floppy disk, and even mpeg movies :) Right now I think about to make some money and buy a Panasonc NV GS400. It's a 3 Chip DVCam that has a lot of nice features, including ...

RE: Re: RE: Massive Armies

Sometimes you just don't have the time, money and people to do things on a real set. If you want to make a shooting scene on a street in front of a government building, Greenscreen may be your best - your only friend. I wouldn't use cloning based on greenscreening for large armies of soldiers since ...

I think you can get XSI for ~450$ these days. But the learning curve may be pretty steep, from what I hear. Personally I would use Blitz3D. Of course, this is a programming language and it requires some skills too, but if you once know how to use it, you can do things like this in a half an hour. if...

The way he describes it sounds very much like he has invented THIS kind of method to get the bullettime FX. Using multiple takes from multiple angles, then use a morphing App to put them together to one unit. If he didn't invent this method, I'd like to know who did it.

RE: Massive Armies

I'd vote for some sort of particles too. This method will most likely use only two triangles for one soldier, so you can render many thoudands of them in 50 fps, using some realtime rendering engine.

I have a PAL DV cam that is 25 Frames and I don't think it makes it look more like real film but you may use one of the software converters that are converting 30 to 24 frames and back. IMHO the Movie-look comes from the high quality resolution of the 35mm analog material, compared to the rather rou...
