2nd one was very nice and the first one at least had the angles and timing right. On the second one, try cutting faster, like have him reach for it right as it stops moving or even before. Makes the shots seem more connected.

That was cool... I love the shrink effect. I disagree about the lens flare cr**... just go straight to dust! Why not? Especially with a full person, the shrinking effect to a skeleton which dissolves is cool. If you could mask in some real ash that someone throws or something, it'd be really really ...

RE: Ashings, whats the best one?

Heh I'll try to make a useful suggestion. Have the smoke-type stuff go up. I'm not sure how the effect is going to be used though... Are you going to have clouds of smoke in front, or mask out a person using the clouds as transparency? When I think of an ashing, I think of clouds of smoke around the...

Actually the idea of duplicating the same footage, masking it, and then freezing one, is kind of a cool idea I'd never thought of. Actually I'm not sure if you do that exact thing in the video (I watched it earlier) but I think that'd be cool. You could toss a ball up and freeze it there. Or several...

Hovering?

I was trying to figure out what Herbert Hoover did that could be translated into something about filmmaking.

You know, some heat effects would be awesome with that kind of exposure.

Definite improvement--may look a bit overdone on the still, but it achieves the effect you want and if it conveniently hides the mountains, definately keep it.

Napolean Dynamite is a really cool movie I rate that thing so highly... On the other hand MI3 was the biggest load of horse hay this side of monday. I saw it last night and for the main reason of gunfights there were so many lame gun fights weve seen EVERYTHWERE before. The story was all over the p...

One idea would be a bit of acting and him clutching his face, have the tubes running up one finger on each hand.

Looked like a pretty lazy fight if you know what I mean. A storyboard and a little emotion might help haha. There were a few nice looking cuts and punches though. Knife cut seemed to do the job.

Well, if all else is extremely impractical, you could try CG. Although for realistic viscous liquid flow over a smooth surface with motion and all... yeah. Maybe Photoshop + AE and stuff?

The snow ball scene was really funny.
The Steve Scene at the end was great.
Oh yeah, I have to say the snowball scene was perfect, and the Steve Man scene at the end was hilarious. Make me want to go watch it again just for those.

RE: "In The Clear" (Iraqi Short Film) Teaser Trail

The footage, etc. looks awesome As a teaser, it gives away part of the story in the (yes, boring) line about a pilot captured, and then shows driving in a car, walking, driving in a car... it's like you're stuck on a sequence leading up to action and it's like it'll be close... then farther... the c...

RE: Captain Adventure

Haha nice. Main character did a good job acting. Might try some more zoomed-in shots w/ a tripod, or just using a tripod in general. The old Batman-style "Biff! Pow! Smack!" type stuff was funny... would have probably been better to do them with the pointy edges composited over the frame i...

Looks really nice, I was wondering about the mountains too. Guess we'll see. :)

How'd you come up with the insurgent outfit?

I remember a sunday school teacher of mine who made stuff where he could stick his hand in it and then light his hand with a match and let it burn for a while before he put it out. It was really cool--he wouldn't give us the recipe, but I'm sure it's what they use in a lot of movies, at least for fi...

One thing I do think... where possible, it's good to go more simple. That's a whole lot of geometry, where it could be a lot simpler with maybe a bump map to add a lot of the fine detail wrinkles and such. Makes it easier to use and modify.

You make an eye as a separate object (sphere) and stick a couple copies of it in, so you can work on them independently and so they can move independently from the face (look around, etc.).

Yeah, that was pretty nice. I like the glow as well. Do you think you will add any kind of sound? If you do, don't make any bouncing noises for the balls, that would ruin it. boingboingboingboingboingboingboing haha. It does seem like it needs some sort of sound, although getting every bounce right...

Haha nice. Yeah, I agree about the font. Watch Rob Zombie's Living Dead Girl music video for some ideas about silent film stuff (although some of it wouldn't carry over well to a real film, such as the alternating hues). If I were you I'd drop the framerate and speed the film up somewhat to make it ...

RE: Systrickz production: Drugs kills

The camera angles were probably the most impressive aspect of the film, great job on that. The acting was good too. A few not-quite-right cuts. That's naturally because of the small amount of prep time. The first third of the film had several shots where the spotlight was obvious and needed to be mo...

Saturation, contrast, and layout are good. Might desaturate the color on the words or adjust the hue slightly... maybe a little too barf-ish. Actually, leave the color alone and just get rid of the glow on "Prevention". Do something else to set it apart if you must, but the glow just muddl...
