Good animation for sure, although I'd like to see some sort of interesting reflection map on something like that (and yes, smoother).

If you can find a video of someone doing it, you could match the motion with your CGI balls.

Hang glider, flying-suit-thing out over a lake or something, jetpack. Resident Evil Apocalypse-style rapelling device, or back into the building using platforms, grapple, or whatnot. I'd say do the jetpack if you can get some good FX on it and do a bluescreen. That is, assuming this is like James Bo...

Haha yeah the credits song was great. Whole movie is great. I agree that a sprinkling of muzzle flashes would've improved it some, although the physical effects carried everything well. One thing I would like to see are the (udds?) actually dying.

The Doghouse Shootout - 2 minute gunfight short

http://youtube.com/watch?v=3CSIoVI712o My baby sister and I were at home and kind of bored, and she likes doing this sort of thing, so we did this. I know that there's no plot and terrible acting. What I'm really looking for is a harsh critique on my camera angles and general cinematography and scen...

With that amount of energy I think the text should fly through the camera at you instead of just bloating. That has a great feel to it though, loved the sound effects.

Microwave cannons would be cool too. The army developed one I believe for crowd control--it could heat up a person to a very uncomfortable temperature. I saw it on this Army SUV in Popular Science a couple years back. Seems like if you bumped the power up a couple notches, you could cook them.

RE: Sorry I have been gone

Heh, Half-Life and HL Opposing Force had some fun ideas for those. Snarks--flesh eating bugs which you just throw and they chase after stuff, or you if you're the closest thing. A barnacle with a long tongue that you shoot out and then pull in towards you (or you towards it) and when it comes in con...

also the spin ddnt seem to match up with the jumping at all.. good attempt though, you should keep trying... nah it does match the jumping. the camera moves through 180 degrees in the same time my m8 does 180 I think what he's saying is that he jumps into the air and then suddenly he's sitting on a...

The problem with that technique is that you can tell it's realtime. But still doesn't look bad if you do it right I'm sure. You do need to try to move the camera instead of the stool though; like I said, the lighting gives it away that the stool/person is the thing spinning and not the camera.

Interesting effect--were you spinning on a stool? The light seemed to follow the camera around your body.

RE: effects..anyone know how to do them??

For 1, lightning is very quick--a couple frames or so. Just export the frames you want to change, Photoshop the frames or edit them in AE if you want to use separate footage.

Heh it was fun to watch. One thing you do a lot is have characters stand there and wait to be punched/kicked (scene by the front porch). The was a nice punch or two in there though, especially the one after the not-so-great kick off the porch. i liked how you layed out the shot for going from the po...

RE: Baseball

Flying balls are about the easiest things to do in 3D, depending on what you want to do with them I guess. You'd have to try to get the physics right, and maybe spend some time on the ball, but you could get a good effect in 3D. Also, if it's in very slow motion, the difference in physics between th...

The good thing is they're getting better. The most noticable problems were: - Sound effects needed - Little kid on a trampoline?? - The pole seems to come out of nowhere in the first cut - ...which was also delayed. You get punched, and then suddenly you have a pole and you're whacking her while she...

Darn nice site and impressive artwork. You should do a few tuts (like the decaying digital photo), looks like you have a lot others could learn from. The extruded boxes on the rolling plane image is really cool-looking too.

My wireless connection's a bit iffy tonight and my internet's been slow anyway so I have yet to see the video, but as for doing it purely in AE-- I'd think you could just duplicate and freeze your footage, mask around the slide on your pistol and animate the duplicate layer (using some kind of motio...

I agree that the cuts were better. Although a lot of the stuff that tries to make it look like you went from one action to another that you don't still isn't convincing, just because you can tell you don't have the momentum going into it if for no other reason.
