RE: What should I get?

I've had conisistant problems with Panasonic cameras. Canon items are just OK, I don't care for their quality either. I recommend Sony, I love their quality and I have never had a problem with one in the past.

As for prices go, basically the more you're willing to pay the better the camera will be.

You won't find a 1080p camera for less than $5,000. I've been looking, myself. There are a couple 1080i products in the consumer market, but they are cr**. You want to be looking in the prosumer catalogues for 720p. A decent camera for filmmaking might run you up around $2,500-3,000. But it's well w...

Maybe you need to spend a little more time with Premiere. You can manipulate the audio however you wish. In Premiere it's called FILL LEFT or FILL RIGHT, not Flip.

RE: Best settings for editing programs

I capture footage in Adobe Premiere. If the capturing is choppy, or srops a lot of frames, it means there's a lot of junk filling up your memory and rebooting the computer generally solves the problem. As for trailing images and distorted backgrounds, are you sure this isn't a flaw with your camera?...

You're going to have a tough time making something vaguely similar. You might be better off using metal parts instead of wood; it will be stronger and easier to work. Maybe even look for a replica of the firearm.

We own a Classic Army M15-A4 Airsoft rifle... it's almost identical to a real M4-A1 in appearance and weight. Not a toy for foolish minds.

I tend to believe DV compression is lossy though. It always gives me trouble when rerendering. True uncompressed is the way to go until you have reached your finished product. At that point you can compress it however you want.

But then again, his or her editing choice is up to one's own. :)

Yup. How will you know if you can do it, if you never try? If you have an idea, try it. Experiment. Spend some time using your brain inquisitively. If all fails, try something different.

Why don't you actually make the room dark? Light the room from windows and doorways.

You record in mono because the microphone is mono, which should always be in just the left stereo track. With a good editing software, you can manipulate the audio however you like. DV codec IS compressed (despite they claim it is uncompressed). Which is why trying to use a color screen replacement ...

RE: Re: RE: How Filmmakers On matts can Avoid Common Problem

How to avoid common problems? Simply disappear from time to time, like myself.

The good way to learn is by watching other movies. If you can't do that, you can't make them.

A fog machine would work the best. I've used mine to fill bullet casings so they smoke when they hit the ground before. It should work well for a smoking gun. Here's the catch, however. A gun normally doesn't smoke after a single round. It usually appears after several bursts, and will come on thick...
