RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: OMG - INTEL GOES MAC
so your way of thinking is the only way of thinking? I prefer my TRS-80 COCO2! you don't, so you're wrong. I like it 'cause I wrote my own DOS for it...it didn't come with one, just raw commands...quite icky, but my DOS does exactly what I wanted it to.

RE: acting methods
There are plenty of books on "acting excercises" or "acting games" with lots of different techniques like these to touch different parts of the acting experience. As an actor and director, I like to have actors "do" something while they are delivering their lines so the...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: OMG - INTEL GOES MAC
I would advise giving it more than just a "This is different than what I'm used to" trial as well. I don't consider mainframes Personal Computers either, I was just giving my computing experience pedigree...at the time, PC's (of any flavor, including apple) didn't exist even in the corpora...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: OMG - INTEL GOES MAC
I was introduced to the world of computers on a mainframe in 1976. I'm not sure what the operating system was, I know it had a Teletype (printer with a keyboard) and used punch cards for storage. In 1978, I got to play around on Apple computers as close family friends were in charge of the computer ...

I'll also note that I don't argue pro mac any more, just anti-disinformation. All of the PC users I've know who've given the Mac a "Real" chance have been converts within a couple of weeks. All computers serve the same function, I promote the one that does it with the least effort for the ...

The only way you can save money on a comparable PC is to build one your self...which is fine if you are inclined to do so...but then you have to add cost for the windows OS. If you're not, you're stealing - caveat, Linux is free, but software is limited in functionality as you wait for the Open Sour...

to speed up the process of filling a room on a budget, buy (a new unused) bug fogger from a hardware store and fill it with theatrical oil smoke. These things crank out the smoke pretty quickly. We don't use old ones due to the nasty chemicals that get used in them-harmful to cast and crew.

RE: First Post on Should A Director do his Own Cinematograph
I think it depends on the Person...some people don't have the ability to communicate their vision to the cinematographer...they need to do their own...the directing will lack a bit for most directors...and the Picture will suffer a bit for most as well... I've done both many times before. When I'm j...

RE: Nooby microphone question
Radio shack usually has something...or a music store, it may be a couple of adaptors. You'll want to put the adaptor as close to the microphone part of the process as possible and have the XLR portion be longer to help eliminate buzz from lights and motors around where you're shooting.

it'll have a built in microphone...but you'll probably want something better for it. I've got an Audio Technica ATR-55 Shotgun Microphone I'm pretty happy with...I don't use it any more as I've moved up to an XLR solution. Although non-XLR audio workflows are susceptible to interference (especially ...

Shake, After Effects and Combustion are the big guys on the block. Filmgimp/cinepaint are the free versions...unix/mac only I think on those, not sure about windows. The technique is to paint over the wire in the frame with the same portion from an adjacent frame which doesn't contain the wire (or a...

Why? Youtube is the root of all evil I'm putting together the clips into a single clip to put up on the tube.
Quicktime is a free download if you can't see quicktime movies. http://www.apple.com/quicktime

I used the motion from this clip: http://www.yafiunderground.com/Video/stabtest-mot.mov to apply to this clip: http://www.yafiunderground.com/Video/stabtest-in.mov which is first smoothed to make a clean motion palette: http://www.yafiunderground.com/Video/stabtest-stab.mov which ends up looking lik...
