RE: Grindhouse look

If you're just looking to rough up the image like they did (to emulate the crappy short end filmstock they used back then), drop the saturation a bit, push the darks darker and the whites brighter to stretch that out and over/under expose it...then apply a film grain filter to a separate layer with ...

RE: Pressured (Old School Film)

Now, why would you apologize for that? Well made! Good camera work, actors were amateur (smiling during serious scenes, glancing at the camera) ... but it's an amateur film. Story is great. Karma is realized at the end, all the loose ends tied up.

You're probably trained to overthink the solutions to the problems you're having with it. Every PC person I've known has the same reaction to solutions I give them..."That's it?".

47 tapes hold my footage from my feature ... still editing :( about another 50 or so for various things. Generally, 2-3 tapes for a 10 minute short. I buy them in 8-packs of maxells from sam's club.

Apple hardware is already priced competitively with **comparable** PCs...that means built-in 5.1 audio with digital output, firewire 400 and 800, USB2.0, SATA drives...etc. Last June's WWDC convention brought EA games to the stage to announce side by side releases of every title from here forth with...

RE: Is your editing computer connected to the

I have a laptop and a desktop (along with the kids computers and the wifes laptop) on my network. My 2 machines are my editing stations. They do have net access. I am behind a firewall, but I'd been without one for the first 10 years on the internet. Not a single virus/worm. I'm on a mac. I was runn...

There's no 3rd option for "depends on the circumstance"...I prefer realFX when possible, but it's not always possible...especially on our budgets.

technically, you can string a hose with small holes in it across the front of the frame...and another in back leaving a corridor of dry for the actors.

RE: Your style

I grew up on 80's movies...lots of obviously lit shots. Keep the camera close to the actors to fill the frame since most of my distribution is online...and there's no pixels to spare showing the environment. I shoot wider for theatrical release stuff. Too much talking heads. I'm working on breaking ...

I'll test the MPEG-2 for you. I've been able to read most every disk I've been handed no matter the format. MPEG2 should work just fine on a mac. Did you check the compatability of the camera before purchase?
