What are your export settings, compressor, bit rate etc... what editor are you outputting it with? Unless you are doing a lot of processing on the images, then it should be every bit as sharp on the TV as it is on the editor.

Sweet rig, now if there was just a way to stuff timecode on 5 DV cameras it would be perfect for multicam synching LOL.... we generally have 4 or 5 video tracks we synch to the master audio track. It sounds like you got voltage onto one of the data lines on teh firewire. PCs normally use a 6 pin connector at the PC, and 4 pin on the camera end. X 15 FPS = 38.8 k per second needed to redraw the screen 15 times per second....

DVCPro50 uses 4:2:2 but you're talking $20k cameras too, nothing in teh sub 10K range I know of...

Using 12 bit sound will often allow you to overdub in camera, you can add another track over teh audio. Unless you do linear editing in the camera, 16 bit is what you want to use.
