BWP was so "successful" because of a lot of bucks put into marketing and promotion and I'm pretty sure that that was steered by Hollywood from a scratch. No one before and no one after BWP put a lousy and bad made indie into major distribution. Wonder why? The only reason I can imagine is ...

I read this thread and Lawriejaffa is right that some films, well... let's say: are not quite good and using teens in roles typical for adults is rather funny but still... there's no better way to gain a mastery then practice. I agree that many thing could be improved. You can't judge this film that...

You need to learn a lot about making web sites. It's chaotic, links don't work or are wrong. Value of many of informations is not big.
Do you have a permission from authors of these articles?

Thanks. I made it in my garage. It's my first puppet that big and it was full of glitches but I'm proud of it anyway. Although there is only head seen in the film it's 2 meters long (with tail) and has legs. I was feeling like some damn Stan Winston (for poor ones). I love old school puppet monsters...

They used helicopter minitures on Underworld: Evolution and it turned out awesomely. You realize that there's a "small" difference between hollywood filmmakers and beginner with DV. The minatures they use are quite big, they shoot on high speed 35mm cameras. i havnt filmed it yet, can u s...

Just make simple dark grey (graphite) with low glossiness and specular leve and that should do it. It's an Apache not "Pimp my ride". Miniatures are usualy to small so their movents are to fast. Professionals use cameras set to higher speed so when footage is played with normal speed movem...

Stop Motion? For Christ sake! It would be extremely unnatural movement. CG blades would be better.

RE: so.... helicopter chase...ahhhhhhh!

Maybe try to make helicopter backlighted (you need proper shots also: low angles with a lot of sky in frame) - as a dark silhouette on bright sky it could be easier to hide details. Make it bit small and out of focus (blurred). Use a lot of cuts and close ups of an actor and let the helicopter be mo...

Hey PDJ... Thanks for positive review. One of the kids wrote the script ( this "troublemaker" who realesed basilisk) and I polished it a bit, removed most of adults (lack of actors and I did't want to use "kids-pretending-adults" style). Janek "the nerd" is my best acto...

Basilisk: Reactivation

Here's the last production of my filmmaking class: http://sfx.com.pl/vid/basilisk_eng_web.avi (with english subtitles) It's an adaptation of an old legend but in modern creature-feature style. We made this short for constest and we won in "Best Directing" cathegory. Actors are 11 y.o. the ...

RE: Making a Movie with 1 Camera: Is it possible?

And when I just thought that I've seen everything... If you are shooting some live event (for example some kind of show at school or theatrical play) whern there's no chance to repeat shots using more then one camera i strongly advised. But to shoot action movie one camcorder is enough. Using more r...

Not swords but sabres to be correct.

I guess you saw that german fake film from Polish Campaign 1939. We are crazy nation but not so stupid to attack tanks with cavalry. We love blades and I we don't have any restrictions against swords, sabres, knifes etc.

Editing is not well - continuity is broken in many shots. Lighting could be better.

Ending was scary but almost ruined by this sigh (cliche)
