RE: Re: RE: Fallen are Silent Trailer

If you're new to filmmaking, that's really ambitious. Most people start off making a bunch of short films, cause they're much easier to handle than a feature.

I think he mean's trying to get your video to look like it was shot on film. This usually involves color grading (making your picture looking less harsh, and more film like, by adjusting the color balance) and lowering the frame rate (video is shot at 30 interlaced frames per second, while film is s...

RE: Recording at night

Yeah, DV quality suffers a lot at night. Even if you have a really good 'night mode,' you will lose picture information. If you want to do a night scecne, I would do a day for night. Just film in the day, without showing the sky, and adjust the contrast and color balance later in post. That way you ...

It's 25 for PAL versions, and 24 for NTSC. I wouldn't get the HV20 over the HC7 based solely on 24p mode, though. Firstly, you have to have a software that can handle a 24p timeline/workflow. I also read that a lot of people are having problems with the 24p mode on the camera, doing the 3:2 pulldown...

Hey mickar, Hope you don't mind...but I got kind of bored, so I decided to play around with some of the images you posted. Take a look at this page: http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/tactical.htm

I think they sell some fake Kelvar vests and such, but only if you're willing to shell out a good deal of money for them.

Holdios, I think it was around minute mark 4:30 where it started, when the mother is being interviewed about the death. It sounded almost like the noise you get when you don't have a windscreen on your mic, but the shot was inside...so... Also, forgot to mention in my last post: I really liked the i...

Hey, that was good! The acting was really great. Here's my criticism: It was too shakey. I don't know if you were going for that. Also, it sounds like you could hear the tripod or the mic or something when the camera moved. I would vary your shots a little bit more, especially in the dialouge scenes...

Hey, looks good...especially the last one. How exactly did you end up filming on a train with guns? Or did you just do it when nobody was around?

Hey, that was pretty good! Funny, the first time I watched it through, I had absolutely no idea what was going on. The second time I picked up everything.

And that running shot was just awesome.

RE: Do any of you composers...

Have you actually tried to score the film with MIDI? Or are you just guessing that it wouldn't work? Because if you have a good set of tools, it can sound very convincing.

Unless you're willing to hire an orchestra...

That was good, milinem. I think what really caught my eye was the color grading (if you did any). The video had a crisp, contrasted look to it. The sound effect was great. Like ornsack said, you should put a black matte where the widescreen bars are, so that when you add shake to the video the whole...

Well yeah, I know that there is a huge difference between the DVC30 and the DVX...just wasn't sure if you could get a decent image with the DVC30. The one thing that's holding me back from the DVX is 24p...I can't edit raw 24p with Final Cut. Now, someone said that you could edit 24p footage recorde...

Panasonic AG-DVC30

Hey,

Has anybody had any experience with the AG-DVC30? Seems much nicer than the Canon Gl2 that I'm looking at also.

Is there a huge difference between this and the DVX 100B? (image quality wise)

Kentertainment,

On the DVX, I assume you're filming in 16:9. Are you using the "Letter Box" mode or the "Squeeze" mode? Can the LCD compensate for the image streching if you use Squeeze mode?

I think he means the color-changing text. Some of the text changes color when you put the mouse over it, and people expect that to be a link, even if there is no hand.

Well, if you have an adjustable EQ in your editing program...you can layer two tracks over each other: one with the original song, and another with the bass taken out (using the the EQ). Then just fade the original one out so you're left with the bassless one.
