No straps on the XL2 I use... http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z173/Ryan3078/xl2.jpg Should have used one though, it was a pity when we went on a trip to Erie, PA. It was firmly attached to the tripod, and someone carried it by the tripod - it fell off, but still works! Yeah Canon for sturdy equip...

My own cheapo camera has a nice black strap with Panasonic written out in white letters with the font Arial Bold. :D The cameras that I prefer to use (namely the school's Canons and Sonys) do not have straps, thus adding to the excitement if you lose your grip for a second. I believe that we should ...

RE: Starting out --- need a new desktop

Looks good! It's a bit above what I use, and I am able to do the basics on mine (editing, effects, 3D animation). Looks like you're set to go!

kene555, like the AK :) Ah yes, thanks! :D I found the tutorial on here and decided it would make a nice weekend project. It was quite fun to do, and we added a magnet so that the magazine could detach and lock into place. Only problem, during heavy use and shaking, the mag would sometimes fall out...

finding an old western tavern but that still means we need to find a bar that is welling to let us film in it, and I can't be f**ked wasting that much time. Simple greenscreen. At any rate, I believe it would be harder to film all these clones running around than creating or finding a location. But...

I meant DV is $5 an hour by the price you stated. So I'd say it was perfect for a filmmaker on a budget! What I was trying to say is that this time last year I was filming with Hi8. So I could pay $3 for 2 hours of film, and now I have miniDV, and its $5 for one hour. So before I was paying $1.50 f...

In film stock terms, $5 an hour is fantastic
Yes...good thing I don't use film, then! Again, I am a filmmaker on a budget, not some director with a hundred grand to use on film.

RE: Is your editing computer connected to the

Ha...I could connect, we have an extra DSL available, I believe. I just don't want to take the chance, no matter how minuscule it may be. I know you guys have your editing computer on the net and you've probably never had a problem, but when I used the family computer, someone was playing an online ...

RE: Re: RE: How many DV Tapes do you have?

For me, its waaay to expensive - $20 for 4, I think! Quite high for a filmmaker on a budget. As it is, I have used miniDV only since last November, and I have about 5 or 7...

Yeah, I agree that it would be better to use one camera, but I only have use of all this great stuff for another week, then it has to go back to school. I did use some guys who know how to make a good shot, so I was able to pull off, say, an attack scene by doing it 2 times, which with 3 cameras mak...

Yeah, for this thread I just wanted to find out the best way to match the Canon to the others - the Canon has the option of shooting interlaced or progressive, while the others can only do interlaced. So I was both trying to learn if there would be any problems if some cameras where on progressive, ...

I believe you can still do it by phone...when I have to validate programs, I'll connect the DSL just for that, then take it out again.

But phone is the only way...how old fashioned!
