RE: DTV Opening Scene: Need Feedback

Hmmm. I liked it for the most part. It kept my attention very well. I noticed a few small things you should work on. - in the opening shot when he is pushin his girlfriend on the swing, your actor looked into the camera a few times which really bugs me when my actors do that because it reasures the ...

Neutral Density filter

I bought a ND8 filter from bestbuy yesterday becuz i heard that they help to open the iris on your camera so you can have a shallower depth of field. I also heard that it helps darken flushed out bright images. But i couldn't tell that much of a difference on either of those two points. it seemed li...

yeah no kidding! I filmed my actor running on the sidewalk and put my tripod right on the side of me filming out the window. Its extremely smooth and you can go as fast as you want. or face it out the back window. theres all kinds of stuff you can do with a car.

I would suggest making a mold out of modeling clay, which you can get at any arts store.

Thats cool. I wasn't saying you couldn't do a movie like that i was just wondering how. I get so sick of people trying to make films that are beyond their reach so they come out looking extremely amature.

Here are formats for most of my videos
Size:720 x 480
Frame rate: 29.97.
I exported them as a Microsoft DV AVI which opens with real player, quicktime, windows media.
And they are about 1024k per/sec. which is about 2 GB for every 10 min or so

But, i want to be able to store my videos that ive worked my butt off to make in the best quality possible. I don't care how many dvds it ta...

Ya thanks for the tips guys. This is one of my first scripts so at least its okay. This is just my first draft so I was already planning on doing more revision. I was mostly writing this as a plot outline by leaving details out. I can't decide whether I should put more work into this and make a movi...

hahahahaha

I think the reason why the Village was such a failure is because it was advertised to be a horror film, and everyone went to go see it expecting it to be scared. When you go to a movie with high expectations it is never as good as it could have been.

Street Racing Comedy

Hey guys I just got this idea about making a comedy about street racers who follow all traffic signals and laws. I wrote this last night and I was wondering if anyone had anymore ideas on how to improve my movie or script. (This should only take like 2 min to read.) FADE IN:KMART SHAMPOO SECTION HAR...

that sounds pretty tight so far. i just have one thing you should do differently. The idea of having someone just walking down the sidewalk has come up twice in your script. for the footage on the vcr tape i would suggest having footage of the man doing something else. use footage that would be hard...

It's better to use gels and do the colors on location then in post. Because, well... they look digital if done in post and sometimes give you that grainy look.

Ya that was what I was thinking since you can't just simply film a scene during the day and then darken it. You could also change the white balance to indoors so it will give you a moonlit look to your shots. But I have heard from a guy that does lighting for hollywood films that you should use gels...

Yes everyone is different. And thats great that you know the way you work when writing scripts. And once again your way of just sitting and writing once you have a small idea and turn it into a bigger one is very useful. :D Once you get into it more ideas are very likely to come. Thanks byetheway u ...

Filming in low light

Whenever I try filming scenes that are dark it is very hard because my camera cannot handle low light very well. This is mainly due to it being small and having a smaller lense that cannot bring in as much light that is needed. Should I film my scenes well lit to medium and then just lower the expos...

Ya you've honestly got to start somewhere or you will never get anywhere. It is better to start out with a strong conflict. But there is nothing wrong with starting out weak and working your way up. But I am saying that it is better to have a strong conflict if you want the audience to care more abo...

I tried your advice of just sitting and writing. Ideas really do come to you once you get into it. Me and one of my friends who is a really great actor started coming up with a great idea for a movie about a year ago. I decided to try and put it on paper. When I just sat down and started writing I t...

It's not coming up with ideas that is the hard part it is just turning them into a full developed script I have a problem with. But sometimes if I can get myself to think creatively then I can go on and on... I think the place I usually get stopped at is the conflict because you have to find a cleve...
