There's plans for steadicam arms/vests that crop up on eBay quite often, usually from the USA. $10 per set of plans seems to be the rough price though I've no idea if they're any good.

Anyone seen Jim Muro's "Street Trash"? There's some great, inventive steadicam work in it, as well as enough gore/politically incorrect dialogue to keep the most discerning film lover happy, and all shot for about £1.50 - a budget most of us are probably familiar with!

For our first film, we used Pinnacle Studio DV (now Studio 8) to capture and edit Digital 8 on a 733Mhz Celeron, 256Mb, 10Gb with generic cheap'n cheerful firewire card.
