Ideality Movie Website (Guy with Sword)

Well, sadly, the movie isn't finished, and forgive me if I'm announcing this too early, but I'm hyped. I'm TOTALLY hyped. And I can wait no longer. The movie website is up and running, and I just wanted to share it with you guy! (sadly, no disembodied heads in this one, ) So yeah, check it ou...

Hey, it doesn't have to look fake. There are certainly tricks to make it look better. One of the biggest problems is scale. If you have too little DOF in your footage, the miniature will look small, so when you put in the people, they would look like little people. A way this can be avoided is to tr...

They've always been rotoscoped, even in the new Star Wars movies. Sad, I know. I keep hoping for an easier way. The only other way I can think of is to put motion capture markers on the lightsabers, then capture the motion of the saber as it moves around, then later line up that information in 3d sp...

RE: Re: After Effects. Easy?

heh. I dunno, AE is fairly easy. I figured out the basic basics in about an hour, then you just keep learning.
I personally would highly suggest it. It's been one of the best programs I've ever purchased. :)

RE: Heat waves

Ahh, that's easy in AE! Just make an adjustment layer, select ripple or turbulent displace, or whatever effect suits your fancy (there are several which could look like heat waves). Once you have it how you like it, just make a mask on the adjustment layer so that you only have the adjustment layer ...

Yeah, I liked the idea of flying over water with rain and stuff (and it was expertly done) but the turning into atoms and stuff and flying around while glowing and stuff like that...WHOA! Well, it depends on the mood. Maybe you want a futuristic mood, but yeah. Though I guess I';m kinda being redund...

crazy

Weird you said that. I just did that effect the other day. In my movie the guy is a time-phaser, and he's trying to understand the strange things that are happening. In one shot, he's riding his bike at normal speed, but behind him, people are running at half speed. As said before, it's just a movin...

yup

He's been working on it for a while. (He and Dorkman, that is) kinda a sequel to the first one, or so I hear. I saw a WIP movie where he almost bashed off his finger.

Oh yes, it shall be awesome!

Actually, I sped up a sword fight a while back. We used real swords (not sharpened) and they were MEGA heavy, but people don't seem to understand that. So while we were fighting fast for the weight, it didn't look like it, and looked unimpressive. I sped up the footage later in the computer, and peo...

Greenscreen flipping

Hey, does anyone know how to make it look like someone is flipping? It doesn't have to be with a greenscreen, but I think that's one of the few ways that work. Yeah, I know, I could make a harness and stuff, but c'mon man, with all you effects geniuses, someone's gotta know an easier and cheaper way...

Ehh, some people love greenscreening. I generally only use it as a last resort. If I can use some of the original footage, I'm a happy guy, just cause then you're sure the lighting will match up. So yeah, as other people said, just use two frames. One where there is a stake sticking into your lawn, ...

You can do it in Premier, but in After Effects, it's as simple as putting a frame at the beginning of when you want the shake, and at the end, (make sure the mosition option is animatable), select the two keyframes, and used the "wiggle" effect, make the frequency really high, turn down th...

Actually, what works surprisingly well is powdered apple cider. Just put it in your mouth, and before it soaks, breathe out, and it look perfectly like smoke. It's really easy to do (the first time you might cough by inhaling the powder) but you really can't tell the difference. It was something we ...
