Falling through the floor
Ok, we'll assume you want the "kitty" effect from Xmen. With greenscreen and AE, its pretty easy. Just tedious. Two ways to do it. Your choice. 1. Get actor in front of green screen. Have them act out falling. Then get your background plate. In AE slide the greenscreen footage down, and ha...

Dvd software
A week ago, DVD Workshop would be my pick. But I did a stupid (by stupid I mean smart) thing and bought new software without checking it out. Vegas 4.0 + Dvd Architect. Amazing. Great quality DVD's, and get this. I can encode surround sound. I know it can be done in other software, like Maven 3D or ...

XVID
I had trouble with Upside-down, backwards, video on Xvids, converting them to dvd's. I tried re-encoding them. But I found a simpler solution.
Download FFDSHOW. it will fix the problem. It did on mine. It should work for VCD as well...

Great example:
If you want some details, go rent, or better yet BUY "THE ONE" and watch the behind the scenes... They did the same thing for the fighting scenes. They used CG people, but the idea is the same. Videotape the people and slow it down, and videotape and mask out the other man in the same envi...

Yeah, but I did lightsaber gag reels. You know, Lightsaber comes out, and then droops down towards the floor. And my favorite, a guy fires up his lightsaber, and swings it, then starts running, and the light part stays where its at, and he keeps going. Turns around, grabs it, screws it into the hand...

Low Budget computer controlled camera motion
Hey, we are just starting work on our camera dolly here at TXFilms. We got the materials together, and it hit us. A couple stepper motors, a few step counters, and about 25 bucks worth of hardware, and my laptop with some serial control software (already have) and we could have a decent motion contr...

Real is good, but...
I would say go real on this one, except for the problems with TV size. In order to keep it creepy enough, you dont want to have a small tv. You'd have to have a 36, or bigger screen to do it real. Also, breaking a big tv would be a bad idea. Fumes and such. And broken glass to clean out. If you do i...

Yeah, you could do it that way.
If your using after effects, it could be really easy. You'll want to do greenscreen. And keep away from the subject a bit. Get the whole person in the shot. For a backflip, Have them jump and bring thier legs to thier chest, and swing thier armes in the direction they would be flipping once. It give...

Hmm. Interesting. Greenscreen may be the only way to go. Shrinking the shot to the size of the tv screen, and then as the person acts out walking, zooming or moving the camera so you can see the whole person, and sizing the video bigger than the TV as they walk out. I might add a little distortion o...

oh, almost forgot. For the fighting, its really easier than you'd think. Just get some video of punching and kicking, and blocking and stuff between two ppl. Just remember to act it out slowly. then, go in and add the effect called ECHO. Its a bit tricky to get it to look right. Just adjust the time...

I'll get some up on a freeserver site or something for ya. I'm working on a motion menu for VCD right now. Made some DBZ music vidz on premiere, and i'm doing a motion menu of me floating... Should be interesting. Similar to the Brolly float on the American DVD. Lemme get at some more dbz style effe...

Just got Nero 6 Ultra with NeroVision
If your using Nero 5.x and lower (sounds like you are), hate to say it, but try an get 6 ultra. Nerovision will finally do moving menus. VCD video looks (and for some reason) actually plays better and in more DVD players than before. But: I cant for the life of me seem to get multiple menus. I can g...

AE DBZ effectz
Ok man. You hit close to my heart here. I've been workin on this for a while. Yeah, you can use Max. But with AE you have about everything you need really for decent effects. If you have photoshop, it'll help, but its not necessary. 1. Aura: In AE, Make a mask around your person. This is a long proc...

Right now, unfortunately, we are doing some repairs. Nothing major, will have it fixed in a day or so... The swing arm was away from the center of the unit, and we have been meaning to counterweight it on the other side, but didnt get to it before the dog knocked it over. Just shattered the glass le...

One problem is popping up. With the rotation speed and the scan speed. We finally got it right, but its a VERY fast swing around the person's head. So we're getting a small blurring problem. We added a fresnel lense to the fluorescent light, and in the dark it does help. its still kind of fast, so i...

To answer your Q, i'm looking at Stop motion pro here. It seems as if you could keep your cam connected to the computer. Then take snapshot frames in SMP. It supports onionskinning, which will give you a transparent view of the last frame for reference. I say, download the trial. Try it out. If its ...

I have. And I'd be more interested in doing the effect where he turns the opposite direction, and his face just pops out of the back of his head. Maybe a morph shot on that one. But back to the original effect... If you rotate the person on a stand away from the camera it will achieve a similar effe...

The test you saw on My Stunts was very good. But the safety in it was that the glass only fell like 1 cm down before it hit another surface. Not giving much room for it to shatter upward. Though, i'm still sure the guy had a layer of something strong on his back to protect him. Also (cant remember e...

Ok. First test (without 3D scanning module) was a bit of a success. Although the image of this guy's face was distorted slightly (I used just a modified cube to apply it to.) And with this test, we only used a ccd camera on the rotator. So it wasnt a static image, it was a photoshop edited map of hi...
