Server and workstation boards are usually more stable then your regular enthusiast board. Sometimes such boards require special registered ECC ram in the case of Opteron processors (this is due to the onboard memory controller). Some server/workstation boards come with support for dual processors (i...

The 9800 pro is a great card and I am running a Sapphire myself (its a black pcb version to which I put an aftermarket Zalman heatpipe on). If you really wanted to its possible to flash the 9800pro to an XT and pick up a few extra FPS. Half-life 2 is a great game, so is CS-S, Halo is addicting, and ...

Since your going to be doing lots of rendering with this pc might want to step up to a dual processor xeon system with XP pro. I am currently running an opteron system, and most highend editing programs I have used take full advantage of the dual processors. A basic setup will probably cost around 2...

Your props will most likely be fragile unless you used cheap replaceable display swords(these will break after a few takes) and no matter how good a job you think you have done you will probably never impress a real fan of the FF series.

RE: Re: RE: blood squibs for bullet hits
Currently I am rerigging my compressed air tank with a solenoid valve so the actor can trigger the hit rather then a man operating a valve(like we I used to do). Compressed air blood shots are good for single head shots or if you want to do one large shotgun effect. For multiple shots in one scene o...

Another thing is those rocket controllers suck. I would use a much hotter power source for more instant ignition such as 3 9volts in series or a car battery or something like that. 4AA's take to long to ingite powder IMO.

Did you see if the cooling fan is still working? Its possible the fan died and the card is overheats after a while and shuts down from a thermal. Same thing with the CPU fan. Did you happen to buy the computer or build it? If so check your temps on the CPU (if you had a 9800XT with a R360 core you c...

Well I went over to his house today(I built the pc) and I just upped the vcore to 1.7(the mobo actually overvotls to 1.73ish), locked in the agp and pci bus to about 50mhz and so far it seems to be working. I was able to run madden 2k4, halo, Vegas 4, and encode using TMPGEnc. I have a feeling its p...

You can also use a body filler to smooth out the surface if that part doesn't have to be super durable. I have used bondo and its pretty good stuff, and has decent durability. Once you use body filler to fill in the surface, you sand it all down smooth, prime, and paint. Also you need to use a ureth...
