Why don't you shoot in HDV with the Sony and then just down convert the footage to DV in post? I'm pretty sure it would look better if you did that than shooting it straight DV.

Lighting for a Night Scene

I need help with lighting a night scene. I'm making a new movie, I actually have been for the last couple of months, and only filmed a whole 3 scenes. (Time to get more done.) One of the next scenes I'm filming is going to be at night. I don't want to do the "Day for Night" trick. I would ...

Nice man! Finally! I can't wait! I was going to say, if I don't see this on HDV, I'm not watching it. LOL. HDV is getting more and more affordable than it was even last year. There should be no excuses Ornsack. Good luck.

I have a Sony HDR-HC1, which was one of the first CMOS HDV camcorders. I got it a year ago, and I love it! Since then, I have gotten a wide angle lens for it, a Beachtek DXA-8, 2 microphones (Audio Technica AT4053a, and AT4073a), a boompole, a shock mount, a Cavision 3x3 Matte Box w/ rail system, an...

Usually AVI is uncompressed and much higher quality than the compressed MPEG and Quicktime formats.

Trust me, it will take years and years of practice to be as good and as fast as Bruce Lee. Like Grant said, watch "Enter The Dragon." It's a really good movie.

No, it was around 29 seconds! LOL. I took the titles out so its 19 seconds now. If I put that high quality file back up, it would probably be around 70 MB for the 19 seconds.

I used Black Cat Firecrackers with Estes model rocket igniters touching the fuse. Not very reliable, but when it works, it look awesome.

The footate looks much better when it's not so compressed.

I added the file to Putfile. (Link is on 1st post.) Before you watch it, pick "Wide" where it says "View Size:" (This show the correct aspect ratio.) Give it some time to load. The File is still the same size, 5 MB. P.S. When you watch my clip, you will see some video's on the ri...

Did you use Windows Media Player? Use another player, Windows Media Player plays the files slow, and it sucks. I use InterVideo WinDVD 7 and it works pefectly.

Yeah, you need a powerful computer to play HD. The audio was an .ac3 file, so that's why you probably didn't hear anything. (You need ac3 codec.) I'll compress it down to a smaller size tomorrow.

Short Effects (Blanks and Squibs) Movie

Here is a short effects movie I made. I made it in about an hour, so it could have been much, much better. I made this clip to test out some of my effects. First effect is my blank firing gun (Glock 17) with a silencer. The other effect is the 2 squibs in the dirt. I filmed this using the Sony HDR-H...

Go ahead and get the HC3. But when you want to attach external mics, good luck. You're going to have to get a DAT recorder and manually sync up the audio in post. (This is what you need a clapboard for.) The HC3 doesn't even have a headphone jack. (My Sony Hi8 from 5 years ago even has a headphone j...

I'm with pdj on this one, get the HDR-HC1. You will not be disappointed. It's just the best camcorder ever for the price! The quality is just amazing! When you see the quality, you'll be speechless.
