HT fools the computer into thinking it has two processors (going by that, mine then runs at 6.12GHz) when it actually doesn't (so mine runs at 3.06GHz really). It's clever optimisation.

In a day when even British TV programmes are shot in 16:9, it is a must for films.

The Matrix's ridiculously wide screen did actually help it look more "wow". Spiderman's not-very-wide screen made it look like something off CBeebies.

Car chases get boring quickly if they're badly directed.

The only two good ones:

Matrix Reloaded
The tanker chase at the end of Licence To Kill

And possibly... the bike chase at the end of M:I-2

This effect has been around for a long time. Even MGI VideoWave III had it. Called 'Sphere'.

But the effect isn't an actual fisheye, like DAZMAN said. Fisheyes are used for extreme wide-angles.

Ever played Splinter Cell? The optical cable is a fisheye- a fake one aka 'Sphere'.

My WMM2 copy came with my version of XP, as did Windows Media Player 9 Series -- I only got my PC in July last year, though.

WMM2 was what I used to create the GUTS Trailer that's in the Downloads section of MattHawkins.

My GeForce FX 5600 256meg can do Pixel Shader 2.0 and all other DX9 effects.

But just not too smoothly. (3.06GHz P4, 512RAM too)

Indeed-- Always keep in mind your limitations. You're not George freaking Lucas, so you should always write around what is DEFINITELY or EASILY possible. If you have the time, patience and skill (and After Effects/3DS MAX) then sure, CG effects are fine all over. But if you're not that great at it, ...

The Biocyte shootout in Mission Impossible 2 where Hunt is trying to save Nyah after she injects herself with Chimera. The slow motion and music- the romantic ballet of shootouts. And the slo-mo nightclub shootout in Face/Off with "Somewhere over the Rainbow" playing. ^ Both from John Woo ...

Are you making a World War I or II film? Read on here...

OK, I need a favour. I'm making a World War documentary with a group of classmates tomorrow (Monday) and for the credits, I had this idea: A selection of clips from World War films by you guys as the background to the credits. The clips will be put to suitable music, and may have an 'old film' style...

As long as it's fun to film (ie just shoot the scenes in a flowing way, not stop-start stand-here) and do the special effects and stuff on the PC they should be OK. Then show them the tape. Believe me, next time you may just get away wih something more complex.

In the UK: Broadcast TV programmes are filmed on 30fps (I think) S-VHS : the news and first-unit stuff like quiz shows etc.

Films are 35mm 24fps.

Consider:

The alcohol (ethanol is pure alcohol) fumes (possible health hazard?)

The flammability of everything around you.

Now:

Isn't there a kind of fireproofing spray/gel out there that can be used on the sword?
