This is an interesting discusison. Sex is one of those controversial issues in film, even more so than violence (which i find weird but whatever. To each their own). I have been thinking about this recently. I am planning a film that is VERY loosely based on my last year of high school, where a frie...

Thanks mate. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but i was wondering recently about how one would go about getting a foot in the Aussie film industry door. I just read "Rebel without a crew" (Fantastic book. One every amatuer film maker should read). It is about how Robert Rodriegez (?) ...

Now can anyone tell me what int he hell they renamed the movie? I can't find a decent translation. I think it's "Hitler's Nazi Death Monkey DIE DIE DIE". Hahahaha. Nice. I know the big writing at the bottom says "Deadman soldiers". That's fairly easy. The writing at the top is m...

Thanks for the input. Having a little problem as my leading actor has moved to Sydney (about 11 hours away) to perform in an opera for 3 months, but i am working on casting someone else and I shouldn't be too far off schedule. I hope to post the scene once it is filmed (which should be the first sce...

Yeah, we aren't going to use a normal box. We are planning to make it safer, maybe with a wooden/steel base inserted so as it won't burn. We may do the same with the lid as well, to protect the holder.

Combustable pizza

Right, for my film about two guys finding a button that defys the laws of time and space (so to speak), there is a scene involving a random pizza man showing up at their door. He is in a trance and, when he opens the pizza box, the pizza lights (bursts?) into flames. At the moment, we are thinking o...

I'm sorry. Shall i come up with something more original to amuse you? Like a straight zombie film? or an action film about gangsters? Jk. And it's not really a zombie musical, just a 30 second scene. The overal plot is about two guys who find a button that, when pressed, causes strange and random ev...

Hahahaha. That song is fantastic. I love it. I have enlisted the help of a friend i had back at High School for this song. He has got the chords down and is just doing the melody. So, finally, this is getting done. Now, all i need to do is get the claymation started and the ball will be well and tru...

Zombies...with a twist

Right. Here's the plan. A zombie musical. I am currently doing a short film full of absurd scenes for a short film contest and one of said scenes involves a zombie musical number. I have a few friends composing the song and it got me thinking about how fun a full zombie musical would be. I am heavil...

RE: The Zombie Survival Guide

Cheers. Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming. We didn't get selected for the short-list but we never really expected to be. They only choose 12 films out of all entries (and there are a lot of them) and we were very rushed and amateur compared to the winners. It was fun though. Besides the "...

The Zombie Survival Guide

At the start of 2007, my friends and i finally got up and filmed our first film (not counting a mockumentary we did for school) , after years of failed scripting. We entered it into tropfest (a short film contest in Aus) and had heaps of fun shooting it. We were even happier with the final product c...

Tropfest zombie film (survival guide) score

Finally, after 2 years of saying i would shoot a film, i have finished shooting on my first short film. It is a short film to be entered into tropfest, a short film festival in Australia. Basically, it is THE zombie survival guide. With a "Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy" style narrator gi...

I wasn't really asking if it would sound good (or that wasn't my intention). I was more wandering if someone had done anything similar and could tell me how they did it

000 (or, in America, 911) call

For a film i am making, i want to play a fake 000 (the Australian 911) call recording. I would involve a person ringing up in the middle of a shooting and it would be cut off early by a few gun shots. What would people recommend doing to make it sound realistic? I was planning to use my school's rec...

It is copyrighted, but when i make a similar thing I used Exit music (for a film) by Radiohead. I found it captured the mood well.

RE: Mockumentary idea

I think i have decided on what i will do. I had been trying to think of an idea revolving around a fictional character but nothing seemed to work. Then i decided to revolve it around a fictional event. I was wandering around my house on morning (as i often do when i am bored) when i started singing ...

Hurrah!!!! I love that song. Go the Kill Bill soundtracks. I found that quite enjoyable. I think you have found a great way to waste time. Quite amusing. Clarence, the song is "Woo Hoo" by The 5. 6. 7. 8's. They are a Japanese band that do some very catchy music (with a little surf feel, o...

Mockumentary idea

I am planning to make a mockumentary, or series of short mockumentaries. (For those who didn't know, a Mockumentary is like a documentary except that it is fictional. Everyone are actors and the events aren't real. Some examples include "This is Spinal Tap" and "The Office") I pl...

i am someone who has been trying to make a film for a while. Last year i was starting to get a project started when i got CFS (cronic fatigue syndrome). just a little off topic but , how did you make the smoke bomb?

I have been looking for a way to make one.

Before i start writing scripts, i want to test as many effects as possible so that would really help. Your detonator is a cool idea too. I must try that too.
