where can you get cheap outfits? any websites? I can speak with relative certainty that there's no quick fix, no easy way to get the stuff you want. There's no way you're going to fund a good war movie with 50$, and no place sells complete paratrooper uniforms for 10$. There's no such thing as chea...

I have not made a film in a while, though I'm trying to retry that Burma adventure movie idea (see avatar)... Seemed like it would be a lotta fun, but a lots of stuff contributed to its failure.

You're all being tremendously foolish, arguing in black and white terms about obsurd details. The fact remains that there is no one way that soldiers in WWII did anything. I'm a reenactor, and while I'm not going to claim that makes me god and master of all WWII gear ever created (far from it) I hav...

I'm back and really dissapointed that you guys are butchering my thread like this. Make some goddamn WWII movies or at the very least ask some WWII questions, or get out.

In the picture where the guy is demonstrating the gear... I hate it when people wear thier shovels too low on thier haversack. His shovel is down to his knees. I wear my shovel in the highest grommets of my haversack so it only goes down to about my waist. As long as everyone's posting reenacting ph...

RE: Failures?

All I know is so many of my attempts to make films have failed that I'm very disheartened. I dont have the time now to make movies I want, and I doubt I'll ever have the resources or actual skill to come up with something I actually am pleased with. I'd like to finish my "Jaws of Burma" mo...

Failures?

I'm just curious how many people here have flat out failed at making a film and have had to abandon their project because there were too many things going wrong. It's happened to me about 3 times in the past 6 months. Each time I put a lot of time, effort, and money into my projects, but they have a...

Are my pictures actually working? And if so, I'd entertain any questions you have, though admittedly there's not much in common with reenacting and low-budget filmmaking, unless you lend yourself to both hobbies. And I'm not going to argue against Spoon's ridicule of NaziSentry, since I havent seen ...

Hey hey everyone, just coming to check up on my precious little thread. RE: Real Rifles and/or Machineguns: Where to get?

Well, price for the weapons isnt a huge object since what I'm talking about are crappy deactivated junkers, not pristine, working weapons.

Like Spoon said, it's way more complex than that... If you seriously wanted to retail stuff you make yourself, people will have shit-fits all the time about the slightest inaccuracues. You're better off buying cheap look-a-likes. jesus christ. my reenactment uniform will ultimately cost about £15...

RE: Russian helmet

Well, if by "big" you mean it slides around on your head a lot, then I am assuming it didnt come with a liner. Your best bet is to grab a ski mask or two and wear it on the top of your head so the helmet fits better. All helmets will slide around on your head without a liner.

Well, I am saying that postwar gear is more affordable, and even today regular jackets you buy from an army navy store look like the 4 front pocket M-42... Wheras finding lookalike M41 jackets is much harder. Likewise, postwar boots and pants are more in the airborne style. All the trademarks of WWI...

lukeprausnitz wrote:why do you guys all focus on airborne units in the european theatre?
From a filmmaking standpoint, all gear after the war was modelled after Airborne style gear, such as the field jackets and cargo pants and so-forth.

However I am in a Ranger unit, which essentially wears infantry gear.

RE: Real Rifles and/or Machineguns: Where to get?

Heh, thanks.Essentially I want the kind of cr** you'd find in a junkyard, because on camera it wont look so unrealistic if the weapons are smashed up. I dont wanna pay too much for em, so I was wondering if anyone knew a place where they sold junkers.

RE: Real Rifles and/or Machineguns: Where to get?

No, I want the cheapest thing possible, which is deactivated junkers that I can slap a paintjob on and put to use.
