Yeah it has, and there are some bargains to be found out there if you scour some of the surplus stores, we found the Maxell 8 paks for $10.40 ( USD ) in one store, I think I have two or three of those packs still unopened. Sony's, which are my preferrred tapes I have found the three packs for usuall...

Decent piece of work there.... The live audio is a definite issue tho, if you are shooting off a boom pole, reshoot the closups right at the shoreline so the mic can be placed more correctly, and use a fuzzy windscreen. For the long shots in the center of the lake then just overdub the lines. The al...

Field matching won't be an issue, I would shoot interlaced on all the cams, then in post convert to progressive. Did you look at the sony in HDV downconverted? I've always liked Sony's images over Canons ( ducking for cover from all the Canon fans ) The canon glass is great, but the imagers always s...

That allows more potential for some decent devlopment, the only thing I might change is the traditional concept of a victim being turned into a zombie... I would probably have the re-animation occur only after exposure to the fertilizer. Zombies kill ya, you're just plain dead LOL.... One thing to k...

If you do it that way, then you need to bring the kid on the shore into it during the lake scene. You have one shock death of a character we really don't care about that establishes that we have this pesky little zombie issue... more pointless carnage early in the movie, without involving the protag...

RE: Help with our zombie flick.

Just a couple of comments.. no dialog, no character development, so we really don't care what happens to the kids in the boat. I think you have some good ideas in background... 1) We seem to have a slight zombie problem in the neighborhood 2) I like the scenes relating the fertilizer product to the ...

RE: Re: RE: How many DV Tapes do you have?

I won't say you can't get 10 or 20 passes out of a tape with no dropouts. I'm just not willing to trust them beyond about 5 LOL, I've had tapes that hit the trash after their third pass because of dropouts. It's just not worth losing a potentially saleable piece of video over a $5.00 tape. Now that ...

An interesting article this month in Studio monthly.... Comparing quality of image ( technical ) with quality of the porduction ( script, acting, plot etc. ) The bottom line is that formats don't really matter what does matter is- Content - if the subject isn't interesting even an IMAX production is...

RE: How many DV Tapes do you have?

I probably have 200 - 300 total, about 40 -50 still unopened for future projects. 10 I do record over for 5 passes for news stories I shoot, but after 5 passes into the trash with them. I don't archive a lot of the news footage I shoot on tape. The stories I do keep generally go to DVD in AVI format...

Well first to answer the basic question... I'm 50 so what does it matter LOL... I will say my soon-2-b-x wife didn't tho :) When it comes to getting a job as a film editer for a bit of filler you might want to look into working in the news industry. Thats what I am doing right now, and its part time...

I shoot the AGDVC60, which is basically the same imager as the DVC30 with some other bells and whistle's added. It's a 1.4 inch 3 chip cam and produces a nice image for the price. Low light response in noisier than my VX2100, but in well lit conditions the two cams can be setup to produce very simil...

Live switching is probably beyond most of our budgets, the simple video switches you can get at radio shack will put a glitch in everytime you switch camers, they provide no camera synch signal. True live switchers are gonna cost you - big time...

RE: Professional TV video vs movie

Sounds then like you would be shooting in more of a news style. At events, work on the nat sounds - the music at a parade, say at a dinner, the sound of plates and silverware etc, crowd noise at a ball game, that sort of thing. Number one rule... use a tripod! The number two rule is use a tripod :) ...

Yeah, when you are dealing with 720x480 resolution, that's the maximum number of pixels you are going to use.... chip size is more important to image quality than pixel density on the chip... the pixel density is only important if you shoot stills with your DV camera, and they generally make a prett...

RE: Professional TV video vs movie

It all depends what you are shooting for TV, not much differwence in framing between production TV ( sries shows, specials, etc ) and movies. Shooting news, whether sports or hrad news, still involves some of the basics, but requires some additional shots since you aren't really shooting to script. ...

Not getting paid directly, we are doing a trade for advertising with this. Trade value is set at $2500 for 4 commercials. In exchange we get in all their ads, print, an article in teh 'official' flyer. We're doing it to get the name out to promote the TV show.

OK here is the link to a rough ( very rough) cut of the video we shot during our tip to Centralia PA. If you are looking for a longer script, I have one that is about 1/3 to 1/2 completed, about 24 pages right now. 11 main characters ( OK well 10, one is the girl whose murder is the center of the plot) - theoretically you won't need her unles you want to get into some flashback scenes at some point....
