Maya is supposed to be simpler to learn and use
I've heard the other way aroubd, and from experience, I gotta agree with what I heard. Maya is more difficult to master than Max, and I've gotten better renderings in Maya than Max. Maya is a far better animating tool than max, in my opinion.

voted. No, wyomings laws are about 5 times stricter than the rest of the country regarding underage nudity. can't even have art with nyone under 18 if it shows nipples. Anyway, I wanted to just blur it out. It was the girls mother who insisted on it, and understandibly so. I'll post the new clip on ...

:rof: Yep, You've never had to make out with someone you don't like before. Imagine making out with a sibling or parent, except in addition to having no attraction, you also dislike them and being near them is unpleasant. Not fun. And no, I didn't fell her up... intentionally. j/k, up-feeling did no...

RE: Re: RE: Your film experiences..

Speaking of undies, I just had something happen today that really twists my knickers. One of the scenes in a movie I'm in for a friend involves me and a girl making out on a couch. I hate this sort of thing. If anyone here has had to do a kissing scene with someone you don't even like, you know what...

RE: Re: RE: How Filmmakers On matts can Avoid Common Problem

I generally find a half to a full hour per minute of filming is about right in terms of getting a decent take. Do not be afraid of weilding your power as the producer/director/writer/editor! If someone starts trying to take control who doesn't already have it (director or producer), whip up a power ...

RE: Your film experiences..

That blows man. I had a breif powerstruggle today. I'm the director (And the writer, editor, and producer) of the mockumentary I'm working on, and my friend who I cast in a minor roll spent two hours trying to tell me about how the underlying idea of the script (a mockumentary making fun of emo kids...

I an give it a try. I grew up in london (first 9 yrs of my life), and still have a bit of an accent (Wyoming kind of drains accents out of you. People here speak like robots)

RE: the eye flash

Contacts. Special Effects contacts. They cost about 300 dollars a pair.

You can do it pretty easily just by rotoscoping the eyes all black and then adding highlights to them so they still look shiny.

Yeah, I meant compositing, not editing. I just don't have anything that lets me edit more than one frame at a time, so I have to do some creative editing with this stuff just to make the kick not look completely retarded. I tried to do the sparks with the first one, I guess they just don't show very...

Last time I tried this I dislocated th shoulder, I'm a bit afgraid of doing it again.

Really, I guess what I'm Asking is do you think that this sort of thing should be done with two hands, or should we land the first half, and then change angles on the camera and just do it in editing?

RE: How to start your own Video Production Company -

Well, on a similar line of thought, I'm very happy to say I just got my first, wait for it, 3 contracts! I am doing a new commercial and 3D Graphic Sequence for a local bank for a full $1400! Getting a recomendation from the local News did me a big bit o fortune there. I've also got two other comerc...

Oh yeah. It's easier in an action sequence. More attention is paid to everything that's going on, not just the gun fire. Besides, the sound is really what get's an audience to react.

Making molds

Now I've looked for a guide to making a mold of a bottle, but I can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions? Also, is there anywhere that a PRECISE recipe for sugar glass can be found? I know how long you cook it and at what temp have serious effects on how it sets and how transparent it is. The tutoria...

These are good for things other than Scifi, I used one of these to make a mock up auto shotgun (Modded the hell out of it. I'll see if I can't dig up a picture, we destroyed it in the scene it was used in)

uhh... Lemme think, this was a while ago... I think I'm using additive over multiply. This is rotoscoping, not video editing, so I'm using the GImp, not After Effects.

Yeah, I almost never see the muzzle flash when I fire real guns. Just a puff of smoke or a little disturbance in the air. I'm just trying to imitate hollywood here.

New one for today's athetic attempt at getting better at acting. Just about got in a fistfight with my friend. (We were both completely in character, and we got p*** at eachother, and were really close to actually punching before we caught ourselves. Man, method acting really is awesome.

Tutorial for Boom/Jig/Crane.

Hey there. I'm still working on the mechanism, but I might have a new tutorial soon. The Idea is this: I'm going to make a boom/jig that uses a central tripod like thing as a base, but has chains and gears that allow you to rotate the camera left and right and up and down, giving a whole new level o...

Having My foot set on fire by an idiot with a firebomb is a memorable experience, the only time i've ever given a Flaming Kick in the a**. RE: Re: RE: How Filmmakers On matts can Avoid Common Problem

Another thing I would suggest is to avoid unnecessary gore, unless you are going for the campy look. Focus more on substance to gross/creep out your audience. "The Cell" does a great job of this. Yes, there is gore, but it's the way set it up that messes with you. Some blood and violence h...

I may just have a job for you.
