Looking for Composer
A while ago I posted a Visual Effects request for my short film "Lost in Vietnam." Now that that part is settled, I need to move on to the next part, music. I was using "Not to Touch the Earth" by the Doors for a while, because the timing of the song fit perfectly, but now I want...

Looks fantastic. I think the most important thing in day-for-night is to underexpose when you shoot to avoid blown-out whites. Great work. Seconded on all accounts. If theres any whites that are blown out, the shot probably wont convert DFN easily. Good job, my only criticism would be to maybe move...

Fog machines are the greatest thing on this planet. Especially for DV; they add a cinematic glow to the picture, and help with the depth of field problem. Not to mention they make light look cool like that picture above. And believe it or not, they help your camera's dynamic range, because all the l...

Really I think that all the camera companies should cease immediately making chips smaller than 16mm, preferably doing 35mm sized. Then light loss becomes a non issue, its just as sharp, DOF is exactally the same as cinema, and dynamic range increases dramatically because they're not squeezing 2MP o...

Theres a common misconception among people that sensor size influences DOF. The only things that influence DOF are focal length, aperture, and distance from subject. The reason 35mm traditionally is regarded with has a shallower DOF is because the lenses used are actually a longer lens. In order to ...

Red One!
Seeing as how I love this camera, and how NAB is coming up this weekend, I thought I'd devote a thread to it. They should be releasing the workflow, and according to Jim Jannard, we won't be disappointed. It's looking like I will probably rent one for my feature, but I'll probably not take advantage...

RE: Re: ADMIN!
hmm, if you can reshoot, have him just suddenly lay down, and speed it up then. though the photoshop method should work fine. you could even mask the actor in AE and just animate the layer to fall.

RE: Re: RE: cutting a person in half
Film your shot locked down on a tripod, have your actor pretend getting cut and hold the pose for a second, then fall by pushing his knees out. It should look like just his torso falls. So in after effects, freeze the frame, and animate the fall using a subtraction mask for the legs, allowing the to...
