60 Second fictional film competition

Hey guys, I haven't seen anything new in the way of films/trailers and the like on here recently, so thought I'd throw in this little cookie-dough. Do you want to win big? Canon is offering the highest value prize of any short moviemaking contest in the UK and it could be all yours. All you have to ...

Yeah, the episode is called "Time Enough At Last" and stars Burgess Meredith, (who played Mickey in Rocky and the penquin in the Batman TV show) and that was a direct homage to that particular episode. There are other influences and tributes, such as I am Legend, Jacob's Ladder, the game '...

Ctbullet - The anticipation that we held as the theme of the piece was for the main protagonist needing to go to the bathroom - 'the event to happen' was for his bowels to explode unless he got to the toilet quickly. :0) I understand that the spark effects coming off from the trees do not look real....

I didn't think they were that bad, but a bit more time with the colour correction palette and a few scarred holes on the tree where the bullets 'should have' went in could have been placed in there - the first trailer is meant to be a bit goofy though so I don't think it distracts from the main acti...

Hey Kentertainment, I thought this was a really humourous little film - the whip pans were used extremely well and gelled the whole narrative together. I especially liked the part with the other car bumping into Damien's car at the beginning - it was kind of going really slow (I can only imagine you...

Anticipation (60 sec trailer competition)

Hi Guys, I've recently finished this sixty second film trailer competition for Canon - where first prize is a spiffy new camera with all the bells and whistles. Basically, the competition in this: create a 60 second film trailer about a ficticious film entitled Anticipation. As you can imagine, the ...

Hey DE - here's my two cents worth: The Pros: Good use of camera anglework. Particularly liked the lighting effects in the hotel hallways - were they already in place or did you add them in for effect? The generic elevator music at the beginning was well done - loved the actual elevator in the hotel...

Hey NG - nice work there. Fist, the pros: I've got to agree with Dark Elastic on some of the points there - the majority of shots were well placed and I liked the quick cuts between the dark haired fellow and his flatmate. It got to a point though where it was reminding me of Clerks for some reason;...

Heya, not too sure which you tube video you're talking about - and it kind of depends what effect you're looking for. You might want to try this fairly easy technique - Premiere 1.5 should have a colour matte - I'm using premiere pro 2 so can only tell from that... Anyhoo - at the toolbar at the top...

Cheers NG, we filmed the scene at the back of a cinema- it used to be an old theatre and had a lot of dilapidated errie rooms about. We had a whole scene where the lights went out and the main character went down throughthe tunnels to the 'generator room' - however the whole thing was running along ...

There was a really good documentary on the history channel when the 20th anniversary came around, one of those 'reconstructions' of what really happened entwined with real people's commentaries - it's really sad to see that the majority of people who lived there have now contracted radiation poisoni...

Hey Guys, My new film is now online. Neville is the last living man on earth...but he is not alone. Barricading himself in a fallout shelter, Neville keeps himself amused by excercising and reading. But the creatures from the outside want to get in, and are slowly breaking down Neville's defences. L...

I gotta say, I was expecting some old tripe about a guy who's lost his girlfriend, blah de blah de blah, so was quite surprised when I saw the girl handcuffed to the radiator. Nice succession of shots utilised and the 'glow' feel was put to real good use. I can look back at my ISO film and feel that...

It was nicely put together - I can see the aforementioned 24 influence but for me it was more akin to Mission:Impossible 2's battle climax on the beach. The battle on the beach could've been a tad tighter - it looked like some of the shots were TOO staged and they didn't really pull much weight - I ...

Hey guys, Sorry to sound like a roayl pain, but I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with a little problem I've found... Hey John, Thought the first half was good - thought the music didn't really fit the piece at first but when the actor went to the bathroom and closed the cabinet mirror (seeing the guy in the cloak) it kind of fitted there. The only problem with using already known music is that the person watching ...

Hey, thanks for the comments Dark - yeah, I think that we had so much going on at the time that someone forgot to actually put the ice in the drink! Looking back at it now, it's quite an obvious error, but just goes to show what planning, planning and more planning can do for ya in the long run... I...

We used the Canon XM1 - which is a couple of years old now but still gives decnt sharp image - I see what you mean, there's a few scenes where the focus jitters and when Rocky enters the club it does show, I was the camerman on that shoot so the blame rests entirely on my shoulders - I don't particu...

Hey Delta, Nice idea - liked the trailer and the mystery surrounding who's responsible for the death in the woods. I think you have to be commended for your efforts - I can only imagine that once the story creates the 'fork in the road' effect it would've been harder to keep track of all the branche...

Yeah, I know that the sound is quite abysmal in this piece - but unfortunately I don't have the time to get the actors back for some ADR - once again It's another lesson learnt in the great field of film making... Hey Everyone, just a quick note to say that our latest short film, "Black Jack", is on You Tube. I've had to split the film into two parts as it JUST ran over 10 minutes, so If you've got 12 minutes to spare, have a look and tell me what you think. As always, I always post the new films I'...

My beard was a little too hair that day, and for some reason my hair seemed to go that way too! Cheers for the feedback though; the filter I used for the flashback sequence was used to show the surrealness of the situation, but when it comes back to the interrogation part there's no filter used.
