Why would you not want a MiniDV camera? Everything before it is out of date. The new hard drive cameras are not compatible yet, and DVD camcorders are really terrible for the sole reason that you cannot edit the footage. Take a look at the Panasonic GS320 mini-dv camera. It's about $400 USD, has 3 C...

cr** this is an old thread.

But Rhys- if you want sad piano music, get the soundtrack from the movie "Amiele."

It's the saddest.

Pretty slick.

Kind of looks like a Flash Template, to me. All of the page could use more content.

And yes, it takes too long to load. Usually, when you return to a flash site for the second time, it doesn't have to load at all (saved in the cache or something).

Woah- the DVX takes great low-light images!
( that was my first thought when I saw this )

There was a clip at 1:47 (a timelapse of cars) that I thought was fantastic.

The music fit nicely.

The footage on Youtube is not 4:3. It's 16:9 letterboxed for a 4:3 display. My understanding is that he took the footage from the camera, which was letterboxed 16:9, and cropped the bars off. So, he now had true widescreen footage if he were to export it as 4:3 anamorphic, it would appear stretched....

We actually shot this in letterbox and in editing I cropped out the black bars to give it the rectangular shape. I then set my timeline edit to NTSC 24p DV Widescreen which then brought it to nothing but widescreen without the bars. Finally I rendered it and it gave it a squeeze so it'd fit on YouT...

Yeah, good point. I didn't actually realize how brightly the foreground was lit. maybe move your mask up so y...

Looks good, Lawrie. The HVX is sweet.

That's awesome Gyro...I would love to work there.

Eh, my editing 'setup' is just a laptop and harddrive basically. And the laptops really slow compared to the stuff these days, cause it's about 4 years old.

Day for Night Test

So I took some footage and tried to make it night..y in Final Cut Pro. And showed the process I used.

Here's the results:

RE: Font

Looks a little bit like 'Impact.' I think it can be found on most computers. If you have leading controls in your editing software, you can space out the text a bit so that it looks more like the font in that picture.

Yeah, that was really similar to the On The Lot film.

Good work, that was well done. It seems like the audio stuttered sometimes when actors were finishing speaking.

Can all macs run windows programs? If you have a Mac computer, can you still install windows? Yes. I use FCP 5, and it's great. Haven't ever used Vegas or Premiere though, so I won't say that it's better than them. Actually, they shouldn't even be compared. One is for Mac, and the others are for Wi...

So, if you have a wide lens on a camera with interchangeable lenses, will you get a different effect from having a normal camera with a wide adapter?

Type of Lens?

Maybe somebody can help me out, because I'm kind of bewildered by this... Is there a kind of wide-angle lens that does not have a 'curved' distortion (like a fisheye does)? Because in many films I've seen, it appears that a wide-angle lens is being used, but the distortion is more angular; almost li...

RE: Nooby microphone question

It has a 1/8" inch mic input, so thats what kind of mic you need. A lot of less inexpensive shotgun mics have this type of output. Google "Rode VideoMic". Thats a really nice shotgun mic with that kind of output.
