copyright question

Is it legal to use parts of a speech of say a former US president in a movie? Since it's a public speech, I guess it should be legal, right? Like eg. this speech by Dwight D. Eisenhower, including his famous conclusion about the military/industrial complex: ftp://webstorage2.mcpa.virginia.edu/librar...

Dr Green 2.0 released

Some days ago I released the latest version of Dr Green, the freeware compositing software that can do some sort of spill suppression. So if your software offers only real bad greenscreening, it may be useful. For me this was a great programming experience since I have just implemented my very first...

I think there's a lot of free muzzle flash images on the web, just have a lil search on googles image directory, eg: http://images.google.ch/images?q=muzzle+flash&hl=de&btnG=Bilder-Suche and oh yes, check this out: http://www.detonationfilms.com/free_stuff.htm Depending on the editor you are...

Of course, but show me a MiniDV camera that can do high speed shutter. And that is exactly the problem. I guess a good highspeed camera im 16mm will cost more than 50k$.

Some days ago I used to release a little tool that I use myself that is capable of doing some things many Editors cannot do. It allows to split the interlaced fileds into 2 progressive frames (well pseudo-progressive) and to add crossfaded tweenframes. It's a simple commandline driven exe. Neverthel...

Wait a minute, maybe I drop this whole Scene. So stop working on this if you already started. The reason why is: the support for this idea, in this forum as well as in my neigbourhood and in my Actors relationships and enviroments is so very weak that I may have to drop the whole thing. Problably I ...

I have sold most of my collection lately. I mean, how many guns do you need? Now I only got some glocks and some sigs in 9mm, plus some misc. stuff.
I like the sten2 in the first pic, I wish I had one. Is that thing fullauto and is it still working? (I assume it's in 9mm luger)

Yes, scaling down will give you a better matte line. Of course, you cannot scale everything down. Especially not when your garage is small. Scaling may also mess up interlacing. Deinterlacing will blur the picture, but since you scale it down, this doesn't matter that much. The best solution that I ...

well there's a lot of royalty free movie soundtrack. eg. from www.sounddogs.com . some of it is even recorded with the london symphony orchestra. It's very good music. the only con is: other movies will maybe use it too.

There's this starter thingy in fluorescent neon ceil lamps. You know this little barrel-shaped part with two metal contacts on top. simply let the electricity (220 Volts) go trough it, it will create randomly flickering lights. You can combine multiple lamps (each one with its own starter) to get a ...

bird_bird....dragon_.VSP - what video format is that? My machine cannot handle it. I'd suggest to use .WMF, .MOV or .AVI with a common codec.

Hi. In fact your question about analog and digital cameras is a very important question! If you have a good analog camera, use that one for greenscreening! This is the reason why: MiniDV Cameras will store their movies in the formats 4:2:0 (PAL) or 4:1:1(NTSC). This means, for a block of 4 pixels th...

my opinion is - don't worry too much about muzzle flashes, in most movies they are totally exaggerated. Like Stargate SG1 with a muzzle flash like a flamethrower for a 9mm gun. I mean how silly is that. Ok, when the scene plays at night then you need to add a little flash. When it's daytime, then do...

I think you need to test your video on a range of display devices, including a common cheap and small TV to make sure it's still looking ok. There are some things yu should put on your checklist: -CRT Screens tend to overblend titles with strong contrast, While white titles on a black background are...

I don't know if it was said: Make sure the refresh rate is 16.65 milliseconds or lower! If it is higher, it won't be able to display NTSC correctly. Recently there are very fast LCD displays, with 4 or less ms. Also, if you buy a resolution that is higher or the same as HDV (1440), you'll be able to...

Townshend88 - if you can open the gun, EG the grip then probably there's some hollow space, put some heavey metal into it, lead or steal parts. The not so cheap softair guns already have metal inside the grip.
